The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 637

No way! Could her acting really be that bad?

Leilani lowered her head and kept sorting the herbs, her fingertips brushing lightly over the dried bundles. In her heart, she already knew what was going on.

She remembered the mountain of takeout from yesterday, including her favorite mango pudding. The knot of anger in her chest had already loosened quite a bit.

Oh, well. She would just play along.

Seeing that Leilani wasn’t pressing the issue, Judie grew bolder and sidled closer with a grin. “Leilani, what do you want for lunch? My treat!”

Leilani didn’t even look up. “Whatever.”

Judie’s eyes lit up. “I know a new place that’s supposed to be amazing!”

Leilani shot her a look. “Weren’t you here to help? How did this turn into a lunch date?”

Judie faltered, then quickly recovered. “You have to eat to have the energy to help!”

Leilani snorted softly but didn’t call her out on it.

Judie secretly breathed a sigh of relief, feeling quite pleased with herself.

Her plan seemed to be going smoothly.

To avoid getting kicked out by Leilani and to mask the true purpose of her visit, Judie started tidying up the Pure-Spring Clinic, complaining as she worked.

“You have no idea, Leilani. Callahan’s been so busy lately. I don’t know if Mercury is in retrograde, but he barely has time to go home these days.”

“And Talbot is constantly giving him a hard time in the board meetings. Every single one ends on a bad note… I’m pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before Callahan and Talbot go to war.”

Judie kept sneaking glances at Leilani to gauge her reaction.

“Maybe it’s all the stress from work. When I saw Callahan yesterday, I felt like he’d lost so much weight, and his dark circles were so obvious!”

What Judie was saying wasn’t a complete lie.

Callahan had indeed been having a rough time lately.
