The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 420

“Where was he earlier?” Libby scoffed. “Does he think the Fulton family is that easily pushed around?”

She turned to look at Judie, her gaze softening. “Judie, your father and I have barely ever raised our voices at you since you were born. Who does this Clive think he is, daring to bully you like that?”

Judie linked her arm through her mother's, leaning in affectionately. “Exactly! And he was so awful to Leilani, too. Mom, you know how good Leilani has been to me since we met—everyone can see it. Plus, she saved my life! How could I just stand by and watch someone mistreat her?”

At the mention of Leilani, Libby sighed, her tone turning sympathetic. “That poor child really hasn't had it easy... She's the biological daughter of the Sloan family, yet she's treated worse than an adopted stray.”

She shook her head. “At least she has Callahan to cherish her now. She’ll finally have a good life.”

Donovan nodded in agreement. “Leilani is a good kid. She's steady and sensible, much better than those snobs in the Sloan family who look down on everyone.”

Judie chimed in happily. “Of course! Leilani is my best friend!”

And possibly her future sister-in-law.

Judie’s eyes lit up with a sudden idea. “Oh, right, Mom! When Leilani gets back from Garrison City, let's invite her over for dinner, okay?”

She had known Leilani for a while but had never properly hosted her at their home.

Libby smiled and nodded. “That sounds lovely. I haven't seen her in a long time anyway.”

She had heard plenty of good things about Leilani from her sister recently. Since Leilani and Callahan were dating, they would likely be family eventually. It was good to get closer.

“I’ll cook personally,” Donovan offered with a laugh. “I'll show you all my skills!”

“Dad's the best!” Judie cheered.

Under the warm lights, the family of three enjoyed a harmonious evening.
