The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 421

Leilani was perplexed. Her entire mission in Garrison City was to treat Payton's illness, yet now he was actively preventing her from doing so?

Before she could voice her confusion, Payton clumsily maneuvered his wheelchair to face her. "I need to take you somewhere first," he said.

Leilani raised an eyebrow. "Where?"

Payton didn't answer directly. Instead, he turned his head slightly toward his assistant. "Abel, bring the car around."

...

Half an hour later, the car pulled up to the entrance of a historic alley. The winding cobblestone path was flanked by vintage estates, their eaves curling upward in traditional style, and intricate carvings adorning the lintels.

Payton instructed Abel to wait at the entrance of the alley while he asked Leilani to push his wheelchair deeper into the historic quarter.

Eventually, they stopped in front of a sprawling, triple-entry courtyard estate. The main gates were slightly weathered, hinting at their age, but the brass door knockers were polished to a shine, suggesting the place was still visited occasionally.

Payton fished a brass key from his jacket pocket and handed it to Leilani. "Open it."

Leilani took the key and pushed open the heavy doors. With a creak, the gates gave way, releasing a faint scent of sandalwood that washed over them. A spacious courtyard came into view, paved with green bricks. In the corners, several medicinal herbs were planted; despite the deep autumn chill, they remained lush and vibrant. The weeds had been meticulously cleared, and the stone steps were dust-free, indicating regular maintenance.

Leilani’s gaze landed on a wooden plaque hanging above the main hall's lintel. The words "Harmony Clinic" were carved in bold, vigorous strokes that carried a sense of solemnity.
