“If you actually cared about us, you wouldn’t have done this in the first place.” Andrew didn’t hold back anymore, all the frustration boiling up and spilling over. “Dad never wanted any fame or fortune. He’s never cared about inheriting the Blair family name. And me?”

He shook his head, anger and sadness mixing in every word. “All my life, I’ve only cared about Shirley. Aside from her background, she’s better than me at everything. But you… how did you treat her?”

“You kept saying it was for us, but all you ever did was hurt innocent people, over and over.” His fists unclenched as his tone dropped. “Was it really for us, or just for your own reputation? The person you owe isn’t us. It’s Shirley.”

“Whether you get forgiven or not… that’s up to her. No one else.”

His coldness hit her like a slap. Dorothy broke down, her tears pouring out as her voice shook with desperation. “So for Shirley, you’re really willing to send your own mother to prison?”
