The next day.
The weather couldn't have been better. The sun was soft and golden, spreading warmth over everything. Under a thick, leafy tree, a sleek black Bentley sat gleaming in the light.
Outside the car, Kenneth leaned back in a bold shirt with the top buttons open, just enough to show off his perfect collarbones. His hair was expertly styled, the sunlight casting a golden shimmer over him that made him look impossibly attractive.
Today he was ready for step two of Anthony’s how-to-win-her plan.
Seduction.
Kenneth knew he was good looking, his body even better… There was no way she’d be able to resist.
Meanwhile…
Emily had been up all night, too excited to sleep, now desperately trying to cover her dark circles in the mirror.
Ugh. I look terrible.
“Babe…”
Pam stood by with her arms folded, watching Emily fuss. She couldn’t stop herself from smirking and chiming in. “Don’t forget, you’re the one being chased. Kenneth’s the one who should be worried, not you.”
“There’s no reason to be nervous, seriously.”
Emily froze with her makeup brush in midair, cheeks turning pink. She lowered her voice to a mumble. “I’m just worried he’s moving too slow…”
Pam’s eyes shot wide open. She almost laughed out loud.
Thank goodness Emily still had some self-control.
If not, she probably would have thrown herself at Kenneth the moment he confessed.
“Babe…”
Pam grabbed Emily’s coat and helped her slip it on, her tone suddenly serious. “You’re being way too obvious about how much you like him. Remember, you just broke up with that loser.”
Emily went quiet.
“If you don’t want Kenneth to find out how hard you’re crushing, you’ve got to get your feelings under control.”
“Yeah, I know.”
Nerves were getting the best of her, so Emily gulped down the rest of her water. “Relax. I’ve got this.”
