“Is that so…”
Anthony smiled, pulling Charlotte onto his lap. He rested his chin on her shoulder, breathing in the sweet scent of her skin. His voice was low and rough.
“So, will you help?”
Charlotte squirmed a little, poking his chest with a sly grin. “That depends. If you’re extra nice to me and make me happy, maybe I’ll help you.”
Anthony let out a soft laugh. He turned her face toward him, studied her for a moment, then leaned in close, his nose brushing hers. “Making you happy is an honor,” he murmured.
Then his lips pressed gently against hers, warm and teasing. “I’ll start right now,” he whispered, laughter tucked in his words.

The next morning, Charlotte was still sleeping.
Anthony slipped on a robe and stepped out onto the balcony with his phone. He called Hans first, asking him to get the plane ready, then dialed Dr. David.
“Anthony, is everything alright?” Dr. David’s anxious voice came through before Anthony even said a word.
“Everything’s fine,” Anthony replied, a faint smile on his lips. After a quick greeting, he cut to the chase. “I need to ask you something.”
“Go ahead.” Dr. David sounded like he already knew what was coming.
“We have the new antidote formula now. It shouldn’t be long before we can make more.” Anthony glanced back at the bed. The small shape under the covers made his heart ache in the sweetest way.
“But I’m not sure if the antidote Lottie took is really working,” Anthony continued, his voice softer. “What if we give her the original formula now? Would that work?”
“No, absolutely not.” Dr. David’s answer was instant and serious. “It was already a risk when she took the antidote the first time. If she takes it again, her body won’t be able to handle it, and it could hurt the baby. But…”
