The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1333

With the antidote finally in her hands, Charlotte led the group down the corridor toward Newell’s suite. They hadn’t made it far when Adonis’s name lit up her phone.

"Charlotte, there’s a problem."

"Newell’s gone, isn’t he?" She didn’t even let him finish.

"...Yeah." Adonis sounded frustrated. "We just found out. I was supposed to be out for four hours after the sedative, but I woke up early... and he was already gone."

"We got a message from The Churchill Estate. Damaris tried to kill herself." Adonis’s voice grew more anxious when Charlotte didn’t answer right away. "Newell’s probably headed back there now."

Suicide? Charlotte stopped in her tracks, her grip on the phone turning her knuckles white. Her usually flawless face turned cold as ice.

"Get the car," Anthony said, already moving to act before she spoke.

Nora saw them heading out and tried to follow.

"You and Dad stay here. Keep G5 company," Charlotte told her, not leaving room for debate.

"Lottie..."

"Nora, you’ve really been testing me lately." Charlotte frowned, her patience thin.

Nora stopped, cheeks flushed, eyes shining with hurt. "Fine, I’ll stay. Just don’t be mad at me."

That look—so helpless, almost like a lost puppy.

"It’s not dangerous. Don’t worry." Charlotte pinched the bridge of her nose, fighting off a headache. She tried to soothe Nora, but then glanced at Franco, her expression practically yelling, See what happens when you spoil her this much?
