Naturally, the driver was assigned to take Vivica and Chaim back to the Baird estate.
After being away for several days, Sheridan and Melanie were desperately missing their precious grandson.
Roderic stepped forward to take their luggage, offering a polite smile. "Happy Holidays, Joseph, Vivica, and little Chaim."
Vivica frowned slightly. "Oh, I forgot to prepare a holiday bonus."
It was a common tradition during the holidays to hand out cash gifts for good luck. As Joseph's wife, she was essentially the lady of the firm and felt obligated to show her appreciation to his subordinates.
Roderic laughed. "That is completely unnecessary, Vivica. I am sure Joseph will give us a generous holiday bonus when the office officially opens."
Joseph shot him a sideways glance. "You certainly know how to back me into a corner."
With a comment like that, Joseph had no choice but to hand out massive bonuses to his team the next day.
Vivica laughed in amusement. She looked at her husband and said, "Give Roderic a double bonus tomorrow. One from you, and one from me."
"Consider it done. The boss's wife has spoken, so a double bonus it is."
Roderic beamed with joy. "Thank you, Vivica. I wish you and Joseph a lifetime of happiness and a house full of beautiful children."
"Thank you for the kind words."
Once they reached the parking garage, Joseph helped Vivica and Chaim into their luxury SUV.
Nearby, the driver was loading their luggage into the trunk, one suitcase at a time.
Standing by the open door, Joseph softly instructed Vivica, "Get some rest when you get back. I will head home as soon as I finish up at work. If my parents ask about the trip, share whatever you feel comfortable with. If you do not want to talk about it, just tell them you are tired and go to bed. I will explain everything to them later."
Joseph was worried that discussing the situation with her biological parents might dig up painful memories and ruin her mood.
"I know. You do not need to worry about me so much. Even if they ask, I know they mean well. I can handle it."
In Vivica's heart, Sheridan and Melanie held a place far more significant than her adoptive parents ever did.
There was nothing she felt she could not share with them.
Hearing the relaxed tone in her voice, Joseph nodded, finally feeling at ease. "Alright. It seems I was just overthinking things."
"You usually do." Vivica smiled at him. She reached up to adjust his already pristine collar, her voice turning sweet and coaxing. "Now, go handle your business. Hurry back when you are done."
"I will."
He gave their son's head an affectionate pat before taking a step back. The door of the SUV slowly slid shut.
The moment Vivica's car pulled away, Joseph's phone rang.
He and Roderic turned toward his designated car as he pulled out his phone and glanced at the screen.
