Right now, he only wanted to devour the woman standing in front of him.
Vivica knew exactly what he was implying, and the heat in her cheeks intensified to a blazing flush.
"No! They literally just called to see where we were." She scowled, lightly patting his cheek. "Get your mind out of the gutter and let's go. We're going to be late."
Joseph didn't say a word. Instead, his arms tightened, pulling her back into a crushing hug.
Feeling the tension of his restraint, Vivica couldn't bring herself to scold him. She just let him hold her. Wrapping her arms around his back, she stroked him gently, almost like she was soothing a restless child.
After a long moment, the intense heat radiating from Joseph began to fade.
He slowly released her, gazing down at his wife's impossibly beautiful face. He lightly tapped her nose, teasing, "Were you just comforting me like I'm Chaim?"
Vivica shot him a playful glare. "They say men are just overgrown boys anyway. What's wrong with treating you like Chaim?"
"Hmm, fair point. Make sure you do it more often, then."
Vivica rolled her eyes.
The clock was ticking, so she hurried him along once more.
Finally relenting, Joseph turned back to their son, clapping his hands cheerfully. "Chaim, let's go. Time to head over."
Chaim dropped his toys and jumped up, running over to be scooped into his father's arms.
"Daddy, why do you always want to kiss Mommy?"
Vivica, who was busy touching up her makeup, nearly smeared her lipstick across her cheek. She shot a withering glare at her husband.
Completely unfazed, Joseph carried his son toward the door, answering in a deeply serious tone. "Because Daddy loves Mommy. When you love someone, you want to kiss them."
Chaim looked thoughtful, trying to wrap his little brain around the concept. "Can you kiss anyone you like?"
