Hillary was in high spirits today, radiating a renewed energy. Seeing her daughter slowly starting to accept her made her desperate to talk with her more.
"Vivica, come sit here," Hillary said, patting the empty spot beside her on the bed, her eyes locked on her daughter.
Chaim was already sitting there, so Vivica had a reason to approach. Not wanting to pull away, she walked over quietly and sat down, pulling Chaim into her lap.
Hillary couldn't take her eyes off her daughter. Her gaze overflowed with profound adoration and a heavy sense of lost time.
"Vivica, when are you planning to head back to Riverdale?" Hillary asked.
Vivica met her gaze briefly before looking away. "Probably tomorrow. I'll need a day to rest before getting back to work."
"So soon? You're leaving tomorrow?" The light in Hillary's eyes instantly dimmed.
Cheryl frowned. She walked over, sitting on the nearby sofa to urge her on. "It's rare for you to visit. Why not stay a few more days? It seems like Chaim is really enjoying it here."
Vivica smiled gently. "He is, but we both have to get back to work. Especially Joseph—he's already put a lot of things on hold."
Vivica knew perfectly well that Joseph would never feel comfortable leaving her and Chaim alone in Sydville. If they were leaving, they were leaving together. Going back by himself would only make him anxious, but staying longer would severely impact his schedule.
"That makes sense. Joseph is highly sought-after and has important cases to manage. We shouldn't hold him up," Hillary nodded, her voice slow and soft.
"Alright, then we won't force you to stay. Just come back and visit whenever you have the time."
Vivica pressed her lips together and nodded.
