The little guy's condition had stabilized, and he was having a grand time at the family estate, so much so that he hadn't even been asking for his mother. Joseph was more than happy to steal some time alone with his wife.
They walked into a global luxury jewelry store, where a sales associate with a "Store Manager" name tag immediately approached and greeted them with polished professionalism. "Good evening, Mr. Baird, Mrs. Baird."
Vivica was wondering how the manager knew them when Joseph simply nodded and asked, "Is everything ready?"
"Yes, Mr. Baird. It's all prepared. Please, follow me."
The manager turned and gestured for them to follow him toward the private VIP room.
Vivica was secretly stunned. She tugged on Joseph's arm and whispered, "Your surprise isn't more expensive jewelry, is it?"
Her mind flashed to the enormous diamond ring he'd given her before. If a connoisseur in the Baird family hadn't recognized it as "The Star," a priceless auctioned gem, she would have assumed it was a lab-grown fake.
Joseph leaned in. "Whether it's expensive is secondary. Whether you like it is what matters."
Jewelry, Vivica thought, what woman doesn't like it? But having one or two treasured pieces was enough. Buying too much felt unnecessary. After all, she was just a working professional with few occasions to wear such finery.
They entered the VIP lounge, and the manager opened a safe, retrieving three velvet boxes.
Vivica's eyes widened. "How much did you buy?"
