Joseph’s eyes glinted with a sharp edge. A thousand plans for their utter ruin were already forming in his mind.

After completing the discharge procedures, Vivica and Chaim returned to the Baird family estate just in time for lunch.
Worried that Chaim might get bored at home, Melanie had invited several younger relatives with children to come over.
After lunch, the three kids happily ran off to the backyard playground. For the first time in a long while, a smile befitting a child his age spread across Chaim’s face.
Vivica, however, still felt a bit dizzy.
Melanie wouldn't let her do a thing, not even look after Chaim. “There are plenty of people to watch the children, they’ll be fine. You just get some proper rest,” she insisted, having a maid help Vivica to the sunroom in the backyard.
Vivica noticed that the child who had gotten into a conflict with Chaim at his birthday party wasn't there this time. She didn't ask, but she understood. That family had likely been barred from the Baird estate from now on.
She felt a deep sense of gratitude for how much Melanie and Sheridan valued her and Chaim, but it was tinged with a slight guilt. Had their presence caused a rift within the Baird family, violating some unspoken family creed? She mulled it over but quickly let it go, knowing these things were beyond her control.
Lying comfortably in the sunroom, she soaked up the warmth while watching the children play. The whole scene felt so comfortable and indulgent, she could’ve sworn she was being spoiled rotten.
Vivica had never imagined she could ever live a life of such opulence.
Watching her son slide down the slide with a huge grin, she took out her phone, recorded a short video, and sent it to Joseph.
She followed it with a voice message: “I haven’t seen Chaim this happy in so long. I’m so grateful to you, and to your parents.” She knew the words might sound a bit formal, but she couldn’t help but express the gratitude welling up inside her.
