The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 374

After all, this was Harvey’s specialty.

Vivica’s face turned scarlet, and she wished she could sink under the table.

Even Quintina, an OB/GYN, felt a little flustered hearing Harvey talk so frankly about the intimate details of making a baby.

Under the table, Joseph gave his friend a sharp kick. “Shut up. Don’t you dare jinx me.”

Harvey glanced at the wine glass in front of Joseph and suddenly added, “You’ve been drinking today. You should take it easy for a few days, otherwise it could have an effect.”

Vivica couldn’t take it anymore. “There’s a child present. Can we please change the subject?”

“Fine, new topic,” Harvey relented. “Let’s talk about your first impressions of each other. I bet you never imagined back then that you’d end up married so quickly, right?”

First impression…

Vivica glanced at the man beside her. She wanted to be difficult and say she hadn’t felt anything, but the words felt wrong. It wouldn’t be right to embarrass him. So, she opted for flattery. “The first time I saw Mr. Baird, I just thought he was very handsome and young. Quintina’s uncle had helped with the introduction, so I assumed he was from the same generation… I had no idea he was so young and accomplished until I went to the law firm.”

“Ooh-ooh!” Before Vivica could even finish, Quintina and Harvey started hooting.

“Vivica, don’t tell me it was love at first sight?” Quintina immediately pressed for gossip.

Joseph remained silent, but his deep, dark eyes were fixed on her, the tips of his ears a little flushed. It was hard to tell if it was from shyness or the wine.

“Of course not!” Vivica retorted quickly. “I was still married back then. I’m not the type to fall for someone new at the drop of a hat.”

A flicker of disappointment, almost imperceptible, crossed Joseph’s face.

But Joseph, once again, steered the conversation straight into a wall.

Vivica’s face froze. She glared at him, quickly recalling the time they had run into each other on the hospital rooftop. Crushed by her failing marriage, her dysfunctional family, and Chaim’s illness, she had broken down completely, sobbing uncontrollably. Joseph had just emerged from a stairwell door, and they had come face to face.

The table fell silent. Quintina forced a laugh and tried to smooth things over. “Well, I guess nobody’s perfect. A man who’s rich, handsome, and generous is bound to be a little lacking in the emotional intelligence department. Vivica, don’t mind him. It just comes with the territory for guys like him.”

Vivica didn’t mind. She simply raised an eyebrow, turned to him, and said menacingly, “You want to see me cry right now? I can be so ugly it’ll give you nightmares.”

“I don’t believe you,” Joseph said, a smile playing on his lips. With an air of arrogant composure, he continued, “As my wife, it’s impossible for you to cry. And even if you did, I guarantee it wouldn't be from sadness…”

The statement hung in the air, leaving everyone stunned.

Harvey was so shocked he put down his fork and rubbed his eyes, staring at his friend in disbelief. “Am I seeing things? Is this the same Joseph I know?”
