The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 357

Vivica stared at him for a moment before a deep blush exploded across her cheeks.

“What are you doing? Who said I wanted to do anything?” she stammered, so flustered she hardly knew what she was saying. “Why did you suddenly give Laura and the others time off? Now there’s no one to feed the goldfish! What if they starve?”

There was no way the fish would starve as long as they had water. The excuse was flimsy.

Joseph let out a dry laugh. “Still playing innocent? I’m just thinking what you’re thinking and giving you what you want. Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Vivica said, turning to stare out the window, too mortified to reply.

Hidden from his view, she bit her lip to stifle a smile. A chaotic mix of annoyance, helplessness, nervousness, and shy anticipation played across her face, making her look brighter than ever.

———

It was only seven-thirty in the morning when they arrived back at Greenbelt Villa.

Laura and Zelda were already gone.

They had intended to get out of the car together, but just as they were about to enter the house, Joseph’s phone rang.

Vivica flinched as if jolted by an electric current. While he took the call, she seized the opportunity to hurry upstairs.

She had just pulled a towel and a robe from a cabinet in the walk-in closet when she turned and found his tall, lean frame standing right behind her.

“Gah!” she yelped, startled. “Do you ever make a sound when you walk?”

Joseph chuckled, his gaze an intricate web that seemed to ensnare her.

He said nothing, his approach both gentle and commanding. Vivica instinctively backed away until her back hit the wardrobe.

“Ah, you—” Her voice trembled in a panic, with nowhere left to retreat.

“So… are you going first, or should we shower together?” Joseph whispered.

Vivica’s head snapped up, her eyes wide with alarm.

Together?

He was bold. He usually projected such an air of stoic indifference, a man uninterested in the temptations of the flesh. Who knew he was such an expert underneath it all?

They hadn’t even gone all the way yet, and he was already suggesting they shower together?

Seeing the panic in her eyes, Joseph couldn’t help but laugh. “I was just joking. Why are you looking at me like I’m some kind of pervert?”

Vivica pursed her lips and gave him a mortified shove. “You’re terrible.”

He was still laughing as she grabbed her robe and towel and, with her ears burning red, scurried into the bathroom.
