“Give it a little more time, and I guarantee you’ll get to enjoy a proper meal cooked by my silly son.”
Whitney’s mouth kept running enthusiastically as she thought to herself that even she hadn’t tasted her son’s cooking yet.
Sure enough, once you raise a son, he ends up becoming someone else’s husband.
But she was easygoing by nature. Though she felt a twinge of sentimentality, she reminded herself that she didn’t have much time to stay home and eat anyway.
When she got older and retired, she’d have plenty of money and time to stay home and spoil her grandchildren.
She could travel with her friends, go out for karaoke, and life would be just fine.
Why bother getting hung up on her son and daughter-in-law’s affairs? What mattered most was that the two of them loved each other.
“And you know, I’m certain this is the first time Jeremy has ever cooked for anyone. It’s also the first time he’s ever invited a girl to his home.
“Oh my, I’m really quite surprised. It seems my son really does have a soft spot for you, Amelia.” She chuckled warmly.
Jeremy was very pleased with his mother’s constant assistance.
These were things that needed to come from his mother. If he said them himself, it would just be awkward.
So he stayed silent, letting his actions speak for him.
Watching all of this, Bridget really wanted to roll her eyes.
Hmph, both of them were falling over themselves to please this wretched girl. What did they even see in her?
Sure, she was exceptionally beautiful and had some talent.
But did they really need to dote on her and coddle her like this?
The Currans were a prestigious family with centuries of history, deep roots, and connections as intricate as a web of branches.
Did they really need to lower themselves to fawn over some girl?
This was all her daughter-in-law’s fault for not knowing her place, letting herself be led around by the nose by some young woman, and dragging her grandson down with her.
Look at Maclin, her second son’s boy, and her other grandson. You didn’t see him needing to please any
woman.
He had those women wrapped around his finger, each one obedient and afraid to step out of line.

Now that was the proper way to handle things.

But at this moment, Bridget was nothing more than background scenery. They had completely forgotten she even existed.
Whitney continued her speech, hoping that before her vacation ended, her son would at least earn the title of “boyfriend.”
“Amelia, when I’m not around to keep an eye on Jeremy, I hope you can look after him a little.
“He’s always been quiet and introverted since he was young. He never really fit in or connected well with others.
“It’s rare for him to have such a close friend like you. I hope you can give him some guidance sometimes and make sure he doesn’t skip meals when he gets busy or stay up too late.”
While this sounded like she was playing the sympathy card, she genuinely felt for her son.
Ever since his father passed away, he’d had to learn to stand on his own and shoulder the weight of such a massive company far too early.
That responsibility was incredibly heavy, and she knew her son had endured things that ordinary people couldn’t handle.
She hadn’t been able to help him much with the company, and she was always busy with her own work. Deep down, she carried a lot of guilt.
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Curran. I will.” Amelia answered sincerely.
How could she not understand? The CEO of such a massive corporation surely had to possess incredible willpower and endure immense pressure.
No successful person got where they are without going through hardship and struggle.
It was just reminding him to eat and showing a little more care. She could definitely do that.
“Alright, Mom, that’s enough.”
Just then, Jeremy suddenly spoke up to stop her from continuing, forcing Whitney to abruptly halt.
She wondered what her son meant by that. Why wouldn’t he let her keep going?
Was it because she was laying it on too thick? Or did he not want to bring up the past in case Amelia got the wrong idea?
Just as she was trying to figure it out, she noticed her son giving her a thumbs up behind his back.
Seeing this, Whitney couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, her heart settling back down.
