The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 341

“What are you guys doing out here?”

When the group of people reached the courtyard entrance, Nicolette was just ushering a mother and her child through the door.

They were the eccentric mother and son whom Finnegan had encountered on the subway.

Finnegan's lips twitched.

No way...

He looked at Nicolette, then turned his gaze to the fair-skinned man and his mother.

Is she blind?

“My, my, aren't you guys being too polite? Your whole family is here to greet us at the door.”

The middle-aged woman began to speak with a smile, subtly giving her son a knowing look.

See? Their family still holds us in high regard, so we should carry ourselves with dignity.

The previously jovial expressions of the Chances had all hardened, even showing a hint of helplessness and frustration.

Who's here to greet you?

However, Cecilia could only respond with a polite smile. “You're here. Nickie will show you in to sit for a while. We came out to receive something.”

The middle-aged woman asked in surprise, “You're not here to welcome us?”

Eugene cast an annoyed glance at the mother and son. “My cousin's husband is visiting us for the first time, and he has prepared gifts for our entire family. They're almost at the door. Why would we be here to welcome you?”

Cecilia interjected awkwardly, “Eugene, watch your mouth.”

Meanwhile, Finnegan had gleaned a general understanding from what Bernice had said.

The fair-skinned man was named Braxler Ainsley, who had been Nicolette's boyfriend for six years since their university days, and they had even gotten engaged two years ago.

Despite lacking any significant skills, he had high expectations but low ability. After graduating from university, he remained unemployed at home. His time was spent either asking for money from Nicolette or his mother.

Despite their reluctance, the Chance family had no choice but to compromise, as Nicolette was adamant about marrying no one but him. Consequently, they arranged their engagement.

The mother and son had come over today specifically to discuss matters related to the wedding.

Marion Miller, Braxler's mother, was a sharp-tongued, status-conscious widow who was particularly adept at scheming.

The groom didn't want to contribute anything to the wedding and even took advantage of the fact that Nicolette wouldn't marry anyone but him. He turned things around and started making demands from the Chance family, which was extremely distasteful.

Reflecting on the conversation between the mother and son on the subway, Finnegan let out a bitter chuckle. “They're so brazen. Isn't it because your cousin is too naive?”

If only Nicolette had been a bit more discerning, the Chance family would not have been manipulated by this despicable mother-and-son duo.

Marion was far from embarrassed. She frowned and asked, “What do you mean? Are you implying that Braxler didn't bring anything the first time he came? And why would the Chance family, of all people, be interested in such trivial formalities? You guys have everything. Isn't that a bit hypocritical?”

Eugene's face turned red in an instant. “You—”

Cecilia quickly stopped him, saying, “Marion, we didn't mean it that way.”

She swiftly changed the subject. “It's a coincidence that you're here too. Allow me to introduce you. This is Nickie's uncle, and this is Finnegan, the fiancé of Nickie's cousin. This is their first time meeting you all.”

“Patrick, Finny, meet Nickie's fiancé and her future mother-in-law.”

Finnegan and Patrick merely gave a slight nod without showing much enthusiasm.

Marion took the initiative to step forward and extend her hand. “So you're the uncle Nickie often mentions, the one with billions in family assets, right? From now on, we're all family. As an uncle, you'll have to take care of Braxler!”

Such snobbish enthusiasm made Patrick feel extremely uncomfortable.

Out of politeness, he still shook hands with Marion.

Marion then turned to look at Finnegan.

How unlucky! Marion quickly grabbed Braxler's arm. “Stop daydreaming,” she said. “Have we met this person before?”

Chapter 341 As Good As My Son 1

Just how shameless can she be?

How can there possibly be such an eccentric mother and son in this world?

Am I well acquainted with you? Why should I have helped you?

Moreover, why should I have helped you up when it was me who caused your legs to cramp?
