Hector looked solemnly at the two elders.
Samuel and Willhemina exchanged glances. With a smile, Willhemina asked, “Finn, are you a traditional medicine practitioner?”
“That's right!”
Finnegan nodded in response.
Eugene piped up, “Finnegan, it's not that I'm looking down on you. For someone your age, studying modern medicine would typically be seen as just the starting point, yet here you are, a practitioner of traditional medicine...”
Eugene trailed off.
However, his meaning was very clear.
Finnegan was too young.
He might not have learned the facets of modern medicine that could be rapidly grasped. How much more so for traditional medicine, which demanded time for comprehensive understanding and was exceedingly intricate?
Bernice furrowed her brows. “Eugene, what are you talking about? Finnegan's medical skills are truly impressive.”
Jennifer said, “Didn't I already tell you all? Mr. Miles, the wealthiest man in Jadeborough was on his deathbed, and it was Finnegan who cured him. What's going on with you all?”
With a shrug, Eugene said, “Aunt Jennifer, seeing is believing!”
Jennifer had indeed mentioned it before, but who knew if it might have been exaggerated?
From the corner of his eye, Finnegan caught sight of Samuel and the others, who remained silent yet wore smiles on their faces.
This further confirmed his suspicions that the Chance family was trying to test his abilities.
He immediately said, “Eugene, you've broken your left hand before, and it tends to ache and swell up in cold weather. Also, you've strained your back muscles, making it difficult for you to even touch your own feet when you bend over. Am I right?”
Upon hearing this, the members of the Chance family all turned their gaze toward Finnegan, their interest in him noticeably piqued.
Just as Finnegan had pointed out, Eugene indeed had these issues.
Eugene scoffed, “Was it Aunt Jennifer who told you, or was it Bernice?”
Finnegan knew that idle chatter was pointless. He said, “I can treat you right now, and I assure you, I can get rid of these issues. Would you like to give it a try?”
“Are you serious?”
Finnegan confidently replied, “Take off your shirt. If I can't cure you within three minutes, consider it my loss!”
He spoke with confidence and his attitude was assertive.
Eugene, on the other hand, stealthily glanced at his grandparents. Seeing that they had no objections, he chuckled and said, “All right, then. I'll give it a try. Let's see if your medical skills are truly as miraculous as they say.”
He took off his shirt, unveiling an upper body adorned with evenly distributed muscular contours.
Finnegan, too weary for further idle chatter, took out a golden needle. After a simple disinfection, he placed it on Eugene's left arm and waist.
Upon witnessing his remarkably swift acupuncture technique, Samuel and the others wore expressions of astonishment.
They were also considered worldly individuals.
Yet, they had never seen anyone perform acupuncture with such speed.
Finnegan flicked his fingers, causing the trembling needles to chime in unison.
Unable to contain himself, Eugene let out a satisfied sigh. With surprise, he exclaimed, “My arm and waist feel ticklish, and there's a bit of warmth too. It feels comfortable!”
“You'll feel even more comfortable in just a bit,” Finnegan said, then snapped his fingers again, causing the golden needles to vibrate at an even faster frequency.
After two and a half minutes, Finnegan swept his right hand, retrieving all the golden needles. “All right, try moving around to see if it feels better now.”
The members of the Chance family widened their eyes, eager to see if Finnegan's medical skills were truly as miraculous as they had heard.
Eugene attempted to lift his left hand to touch his back.
His face suddenly lit up with excitement. “I can touch my own back now.”
