Upon hearing these words, everyone was shocked.
The girl's family bought a house for your son's marriage.
Yet, you're still considering adding your son's name? And only his name at that?
The fair-skinned man didn't see any issue, but he was somewhat troubled. “Mom, that house was bought with her family's money. Wouldn't it be inappropriate to add my name to it? Besides, as long as we have a place to stay, the name doesn't really matter, right?”
The middle-aged woman patted the fair-skinned young man's thigh. “Son, if your name is added, you'll be able to claim at least half of the property in case of a divorce in the future. With this half of the money, we could fully pay for another place elsewhere. It's a safety net!”
Scratching his head, the fair-skinned man asked, “But their family doesn't want a betrothal gift. They even offered to host the banquet and buy a car and a house for us. Would they agree if we propose this?”
“Don't worry. I'll handle it when the time comes,” the middle-aged woman said with a laugh. “Besides, it's clear that the girl won't marry anyone but you. I'm confident that I can make her family compromise again. At the very least, your name should be added to the house deed. Besides, a mere one hundred and forty square meters is too small. They should contemplate purchasing a two-hundred-square-meter house with five bedrooms.”
The fair-skinned man exclaimed in surprise, “Five bedrooms? Isn't it too huge?”
The middle-aged woman glanced at her son. “Who said so? You'll occupy one room, I'll take another, your grandmother will have her own, and your uncle's family of three will also require a room. So how could three rooms be enough?”
The fair-skinned man nodded. “That's true. Her family is wealthy after all. Mom, you can decide what to do.”
Everyone present was rendered speechless by the conversation between the mother and son.
How are there still such shameless people in this world?
They raised a daughter without asking for anything from your family, even going so far as to provide a car and a house.
Yet, you're still not satisfied?
Even Finnegan, who considered himself mentally strong, couldn't help but be taken aback.
He even felt that these people were more shameless than some of his family members.
At the very least, they wouldn't refuse to give betrothal gifts and instead demand it.
However, as they were merely people he had encountered by chance, Finnegan didn't feel the need to say much. He simply felt sympathy for the woman's family in his heart.
After passing through eighteen subway stations, he finally arrived at his destination.
As Finnegan was getting off the subway, the fair-skinned man surprisingly shoved him again, saying, “Please respect the old and let my mother go first.” He even pushed away some of the other passengers nearby.
Finnegan raised an eyebrow, truly appalled by the lack of manners in this mother-and-son duo.
Secretly, he pulled out two silver needles and flicked them.
The two silver needles silently and swiftly embedded themselves into the kneecaps of the mother and son.
The mother and son immediately fell to the ground, their left and right legs throbbing with excruciating pain. The agony was so intense that they cried out in distress, completely oblivious to the fact that they were in a public place.
Only then did Finnegan breathe a sigh of relief as he walked past them, ignoring their cries for help.
The other passengers had just heard the bizarre conversation between the mother and son on the subway, so they decisively ignored them.
Upon exiting the subway station, Finnegan activated his GPS navigation and swiftly located the residence of Bernice's grandmother.
It was an ancient building, within which were artificial mountains and flowing streams, accompanied by flowers, plants, and scenic trees.
After straightening his collar, Finnegan finally walked over and rang the doorbell.
“Brax—Who... are you?”
Before long, a woman of refined elegance and delicate beauty opened the courtyard door.
She originally had a smile on her face, but it immediately changed when she saw it was Finnegan.
“Finnegan!”
Just as Finnegan was about to speak, Bernice emerged from behind the woman.
She held his arm as she introduced him to the woman, “Nickie, this is my fiancé, Finnegan. Finnegan, this is my cousin, Nicolette, who is currently the head of a kindergarten. She's a particularly well-behaved young lady.”
