The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 845

He was never going to be the same again.

She used to love him so much. Now, when she looked at his face, that feeling was gone. Maybe that was why she didn’t want to be close to him anymore.

He could feel her pulling away, the way she resisted him in bed earlier. He knew he’d acted on impulse, and now he was paying for it.

“You can leave now.”

“Yes, sir.”

Kent left the room.

Jason stood alone in his office, staring at the chat window with Lilly. She still hadn’t messaged him back.

He let out a bitter little laugh and sent her a message anyway.

Goodnight.

Lilly had taken a couple of days off. Today, Victoria was finally coming home, so she got up early to get everything ready, making sure to include all of Victoria’s favorite things.

Just as she was finishing up, May rushed in, looking panicked. “Lilly, something happened.”

Lilly’s heart skipped a beat. “Mom, what’s wrong?”

“That worker who was causing all the trouble had started to come around. He was about to take the money and sign the settlement agreement. If he signed, it would all be over… but your father just called. The worker disappeared. No one can find him.”

Lilly froze. “What do you mean, disappeared? If something happens to him, this is only going to get worse.”

“That’s exactly what your father said. He’s too important to just vanish, but he’s gone.”

There was no way this was just bad luck. Someone had to have done something.

Only one person came to mind.

Lilly stepped aside and pulled out her phone, dialing quickly.

Then the call ended, leaving nothing but silence.

Lilly’s hands were ice cold. She never thought Lucas could go this far. What was she supposed to do? If that worker died because of Lucas, everything would be destroyed.

She had to find him.

She turned to May. “Mom, we have to keep looking for that worker. He can’t get hurt.”

“Lilly, we’ve checked everywhere. He’s just… gone.”

What now?

Only one person came to mind. Right now, he was her only hope.

“Mom, I have to go out.”

Without waiting for a reply, Lilly ran out the door.
