Lilly fixed her eyes on Lucas. “You already know who Jason is, so why pretend you don’t? Of course I’m hurt. I love him.”
Lucas’s face grew cold. “You…”
Lilly shoved him aside, her movements sharp, then turned and stormed off.
Lucas just stood there, staring after Lilly and Jason as they disappeared from view. Three years ago, he’d managed to pull them apart. He wasn’t going to let them get back together now.
…
The luxury car raced down the road. Jason and Hanna sat in the back while Frank drove up front.
Frank cracked a little smile. “So, Jason, you finally told Lilly who you are?”
Jason shot him a look. “Don’t be so harsh with her anymore, alright?”
Frank let out a frustrated sigh. “Jason, seriously, why are you still defending her? Have you forgotten what she did to you three years ago? You risked everything on that mission just to find her, and by the time you got there, she’d already betrayed you for Lucas. They were about to get married. She called you a stain on her life, Jason. She had people throw acid on you, and then they pushed your car off a cliff. You almost died. You fought like hell just to stay alive these past three years.”
Jason pressed his lips into a thin line. “I don’t think she knows what really happened back then. I trust she wasn’t the one who ordered any of that.”
Frank shook his head. “If it wasn’t her, it was her fiancé Lucas. Either way, those two are nothing but trouble. You barely made it out alive, Jason. You’ve got a new start now. Don’t get dragged back into the mess between the Lynch family and Matthis Enterprise. Why do you even care about Lilly anymore?”
Jason’s voice was quiet. “She’s been raising Victoria for me these past three years…”
