The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 834

What?

Lilly stopped in her tracks. Wait, Jason had come all this way to play golf just because of her?

When the Lynch family company was hanging by a thread, on the edge of bankruptcy, he had shown up right by her side.

A rush of emotion filled her chest, almost overwhelming. She looked at Jason with bright, glassy eyes, every word full of sincerity. “Thank you.”

She meant it, from the bottom of her heart.

Jason caught her gaze, a small smile tugging at his lips. “You are welcome.”

Dinner went by in a blur of easy conversation. William left first, and then Lilly and Jason stepped out of the restaurant together.

Lilly glanced at him, her voice soft but earnest. “Seriously, thank you. If you hadn’t been there, William definitely would’ve ended the partnership with us.”

Jason shook his head. “It was nothing. And anyway, I should be the one thanking you. You’ve looked after my sister all these years.”

At the mention of Victoria, Lilly’s whole face lit up. “You have no idea. Victoria’s been incredible these last three years. Honestly, I can’t take much credit. She got where she is through her own hard work. She’s at a research facility now and only comes home every couple of weeks. When she’s back, I’ll set up a meeting for you.”

Jason watched her, feeling a strange warmth at how happy she was. He knew, deep down, that no matter how talented a girl was, without family looking out for her, the world could be a dangerous place. For the past three years, the Lynch family had been Victoria’s biggest support. Without them, she wouldn’t be where she was now.

Lilly kept talking, a smile in her voice. “I have so many photos of Victoria from the past three years. I’ll bring them next time, so you can see how much she’s changed…”

She didn’t finish the sentence. Jason stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her.

Lilly froze, caught off guard.

He held her close, his voice low. “Lilly, thank you.”

He said it again, and this time it sounded even more sincere.

Lilly gave him a playful look. “You don’t sound very convincing, you know.”

Jason loosened his hold, just a little. “Then how should I thank you?”

Before she could answer, he gently took her face in his hands and kissed her, deep and unhurried.
