Lilly was having the time of her life, dancing with Victoria, when suddenly Lucas grabbed her arm. “Lilly!”
Her laughter died in her throat. She spun around, startled. “Lucas?”
She tried to yank her arm free. “Let go of me.”
Lucas glared at her. “Why did you come here?”
Lilly fired back, “Why do you care?”
She didn’t want him touching her at all. With a sharp jerk, she pulled her arm away.
Lucas let out a cold laugh. “You love dancing, don’t you? Fine. I’ll dance with you.”
The sight of all those guys crowding around her was driving him crazy. She was out here having fun, showing off in front of strangers, and for three years, she hadn’t given him the time of day.
Lilly shot him a frosty look. “I don’t want to dance with you.”
She grabbed Victoria’s hand. “Come on, Victoria, let’s go.”
Seeing Lucas had completely ruined her mood. She just wanted to get out of there.
But Lucas reached out and wrapped his hand around her waist, pulling her right into his chest.
She stumbled against him and glared up at him. “Lucas, are you out of your mind? Don’t touch me. Let go!”
His hand lingered on her waist, noticing how soft and delicate she felt. Instead of letting go, he pulled her closer. “Didn’t you want to dance? Why stop because of me? Come on. I’ll dance with you.”
He tried to lead her into a dance, but Lilly was having none of it.
She couldn’t believe he was here. Wasn’t he supposed to be celebrating his birthday, surrounded by people? Weren’t those bunny girls and Sarah enough for him?
