Ella felt a wave of emotion crash over her. She never expected Moss and Joanna to want her as their stepdaughter. Truthfully, she had always adored them. Watching the way they doted on Jessa made her heart ache with envy.
Not having parents had left a hole in her life that nothing could fill.
Now, Moss and Joanna wanted to change that for her.
Tears shimmered in Ella’s eyes. “Yes, I’d love to! Mr. Wade, Ms. Johnson, I’d love to be your stepdaughter.”
Moss and Joanna exchanged a quick, happy look. Joanna wrapped her arms around Ella, pulling her close. “This is wonderful, Ella. From now on, you’re our daughter.”
Ella nodded quickly. “I didn’t say anything earlier, not because I didn’t want to, but because I just couldn’t believe it. I’m really, really happy to be your daughter.”
Moss smiled at her. “Ella, you can’t call us Mr. Wade and Ms. Johnson anymore. It’s time for something new.”
Joanna laughed softly. “Ella, you should call us Dad and Mom now.”
Ella looked at the two of them, and tears rolled down her cheeks, bright and clear. “Dad. Mom.”
“Such a good girl, Ella.”
They all started laughing together, a happiness settling between them.
Moss took her hand. “Now that you’re our daughter, Ella, we want the whole world to know. I’m going to throw a huge party, invite everyone from high society, and announce to everyone that you’re family.”
Joanna nodded, her eyes shining. “We want everyone to know this greay news.”
Ella hesitated, not really loving the idea of a big party. “I…”
Moss squeezed her hand. “It’s settled. Just listen to us, okay?”
Seeing how serious Moss and Joanna were, Ella finally agreed. “Okay.”
Suddenly, a thought struck her. “What about David?”
