Wyatt had already caught on. David was just trying to trick him.
Honestly, the moment David saw the DNA test results, he figured out there was nothing between Ella and Wyatt. But now, hearing for sure that Wyatt was Ella’s friend, he was still stunned.
David burst out laughing, happiness lighting up his face.
Wyatt’s temper snapped. He landed a punch right on David’s flawless jaw.
David didn’t even try to dodge. He took the hit, slammed back into the wall, and wiped a smear of blood from his lip with the back of his hand.
Wyatt grabbed David by the collar. “David, you think this is funny? You really have the nerve to laugh right now?”
Even with his lip bleeding, David just looked thrilled. “Wyatt, so you’re only Ella’s friend. Ella is mine. She always has been.”
Just thinking about it made David feel like he’d won the lottery. He and Ella had a child. Ella was only his. She belonged to him.
That feeling of losing her and getting her back again filled him with so much joy, his heart felt too full. He was honestly over the moon.
Today, he had it all.
Wyatt stared David down. “Yeah, I’m just Ella’s friend. Lola is your biological daughter. David, you really should thank Ella.”
“You know how many amazing guys tried to chase after Ella these past three years? But she never showed any interest. I know she never forgot about you.”
David’s chest tightened. So Ella hadn’t moved on, just like him. She still loved him.
“But David, you don’t deserve Ella.” Wyatt’s voice was cold, every word like a slap. “Have you forgotten how much you hurt her before? And now you’re engaged to Ms. Wade, the richest girl in town. You can never seem to clean up your messes. You just don’t deserve Ella.”
Wyatt had never liked David, and now he let it all out.
