He’s gone?
Did he really leave?
Moss walked over and opened the door.
Standing outside was a striking young woman. When she saw Moss, she froze, her cheeks instantly flushing. “Mr. Wade.”
He studied her. “You know me?”
“Who in the Capital doesn’t know you, Mr. Wade? Of course I know you. You just don’t know me.”
Joanna had sent this woman here, and she knew exactly why. She was here to please a man.
Any man connected to Joanna had to be someone with power, money, or both.
On her way over, the woman had been excited, almost giddy. The moment she saw Moss, she was stunned, like she’d won the lottery. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect Moss to be the man she’d be meeting tonight.
Moss caught the hope and longing in her eyes. He gave her a chilly, crooked smile. “Let’s start here, then.”
Here?
The woman glanced back at Joanna, still inside the room. “Mr. Wade, I don’t think this is a good idea. Ms. Johnson is still here.”
Moss let out a cold laugh. “It’s fine. Ms. Johnson brought you here. I’m sure she won’t mind if we start right now.”
A wave of dread washed over Joanna. She knew Moss wouldn’t let her off that easily. Of course he’d want to do this in her room, right in front of her.
Moss turned to the woman. “You get one chance. If you don’t want to, leave. I’ll call someone else.”
The woman jumped at the opportunity. “Yes, Mr. Wade. We can start now.”
She stepped closer to him, her hands trembling as she reached out. “Let me help you with your robe.”
