“Ella, what are you even doing?” Jessa snapped, her voice sharp with anger. “This is Wade family business. Why do you think you get to butt in?”
Louise slid off the bed, her perfect plan unraveling right in front of her. Everything had been under control until Ella came along and ruined it all. Dropping the sweet act, Louise fixed Ella with a cold stare. “Ms. Irvine, you really can’t help yourself, can you? Always meddling where you don’t belong.”
Ella’s clear eyes didn’t waver as she looked Louise up and down. “I get why you’re mad, Louise. It’s obvious to everyone but Mr. Wade that you’re into him.”
Louise’s face went stiff.
“But let’s be real, Louise. Mr. Wade and Ms. Johnson aren’t even divorced yet. And here you are, crawling into a married man’s bed in broad daylight. Are you really okay with being the other woman? Or do you just enjoy like sneaking around in the shadows?”
Louise froze in place. She had always been the queen of drama, but up against Ella’s blunt honesty, she was losing her grip. “You—” she started, her voice trembling with rage.
Ella turned to Jessa. “And you, you’re acting really weird. I get why Louise is pissed, but what’s your excuse? Ms. Johnson is your own mom. Do you honestly want your dad cheating on her with someone else?”
Ella’s gaze darted between the two, her suspicion clear. “Wait a minute, Ms. Wade, did you know Louise was going to end up in your dad’s bed? Did you bring your mom here on purpose, just so she could see? What’s going on in your head? Are you seriously that twisted?”
Jessa was completely thrown. It wasn’t just Ella’s words—her ability to see right through people was unnerving. Ella already suspected something was up. Jessa scrambled to defend herself. “Ella, what are you even talking about? I had no idea what my dad and Louise were doing. I’m mad because you keep getting in the middle of my family. I’m their daughter. What do you want? Are you trying to steal my parents or something?”
Ella shot Jessa a level look. “You said it yourself, they’re your parents. Why are you so insecure? Worried I’ll take them away? Jessa, if you’re really that concerned, maybe act like a daughter for once. Try caring about them instead of blaming everyone else.”
Without waiting for a response, Ella turned and strode out of the room.
Unbelievable.
