The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 725

Louise stared in shock. “Moss, how could you hit Jessa? She’s your daughter!”

Jessa pressed her hand to her burning cheek, tears welling up in her eyes. “Dad, you hit me. Why? What did I do?”

Moss’s face was pale and his eyes were icy as he fixed his gaze on Jessa. “Jessa, I must have spoiled you too much. Now you think you can criticize your own mother? Joanna nearly died bringing you into this world. She’s your real mother. Do you even realize what she’s been through for you?”

He shook his head, his disappointment heavy in the air. “You’re so selfish, Jessa. You only ever think about yourself. The second she doesn’t treat you the way you want, you start thinking about replacing your own mother. Do you know anything about respect or family?”

Moss had never been this angry before. Both Jessa and Louise were stunned silent, afraid to even breathe.

Jessa’s tears spilled over and she sobbed, her voice trembling. “Dad, I…”

“Don’t call me Dad. I’m really disappointed in you.”

Without another word, Moss turned and strode up the stairs to his study, shutting the door behind him.

A few minutes later, Moss’s personal assistant arrived and followed him upstairs.

Jessa’s hands were shaking as she turned to Louise, grabbing her arm. “Louise, I did exactly what you told me to say. Why did Dad react like that? I don’t think he ever planned to marry you.”

Louise didn’t need Jessa to say it out loud. She had known it for a long time. If Moss had wanted to marry her, she wouldn’t have ended up waiting all these years. Now, seeing how fiercely he defended Joanna, Louise couldn’t help but wonder. Had Moss fallen for Joanna?

Later, Louise made a cup of coffee and carried it to the study. She paused at the door, then knocked gently. “Moss, it’s me.”
