Jessa stared in disbelief. Never in a million years did she think Ella would be gutsy enough to show up at the Wade family home.

Ella arched her elegant brow, completely unfazed. She was here now and she wasn't going anywhere.

She turned to Moss. “Mr. Wade, I’m here with your permission. You wouldn’t suddenly change your mind and throw me out, would you?”

Ella trusted Moss. He seemed like the last person to play petty games.

Moss looked at Jessa. “Jessa, this is Ella’s first time in the Capital. Let her stay, she’s my guest. I brought her straight from the airport.”

Jessa clenched her fists. “Dad, seriously?”

Moss just called out, “Someone bring some tea.”

He headed into the living room, making it clear he wasn't going to argue.

Jessa glared at Ella, her voice tight. “You’ve got a lot of nerve, coming here.”

Ella walked right up to her. “Ms. Wade, you’re the heiress now, right? I’ve heard you’ve been doing pretty well for yourself in the Capital. I just wanted to see it for myself.”

Jessa gave a cold little laugh. “That’s not why you’re here. Don’t play games with me.”

Ella shot back, “Then what do you think I’m here for?”

Jessa said nothing, her lips pressed tight.

Ella leaned in, dropping her voice. “Ms. Wade, you know my daughter Lola and Mrs. Harmon were kidnapped, don’t you?”

Jessa shrugged. “So what if I do? So what if I don’t? It’s got nothing to do with me. Ella, you’re not accusing me, are you? Because you better have evidence before you open your mouth. If you start spreading rumors, I’ll have my lawyer send you a notice right now.”

Ella’s eyes flashed cold. “I haven’t said anything. Why are you so nervous, Ms. Wade?”
