Ella shifted, trying to sit up. The moment she moved, David stirred awake and pulled her right back into his arms. “You’re up already?”
Ella just buried her face in his chest, silent.
David’s eyes were still heavy with sleep. He looked nothing like his usual cold, restrained self. This version of him was lazy and undeniably sexy. He reached out and gently pinched her cheek. “What’s this? Are you mad at me? Not even going to talk to me?”
Of course Ella was mad. Last night, he’d been way too forceful. She really didn’t feel like speaking to him.
David smiled and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. “Even when you’re angry, you’re adorable.”
That only made Ella pinch him, digging her fingers into his muscles.
David just flipped her over and pinned her beneath him. “Didn’t get enough last night? Should we keep going?”
Ella’s lashes fluttered. Last night had already left her completely exhausted, and he still had the nerve to ask for more.
She pushed him back and shook her head. “No way. It’s broad daylight, and we still haven’t heard from Jessa. I’m worried about Lola and Mrs. Harmon.”
David’s expression softened. He was worried too, even if he tried not to show it. His voice dropped to a gentle murmur. “No news might be good news. Jessa’s probably just overwhelmed right now.”
Ella sighed. “Let’s just get up.”
“Alright.”
They got out of bed. Just as Ella was about to head to the bathroom, Aiden walked in. “Mr. Wade.”
He was there for a work update. Ella glanced at David, then quietly slipped out of the office, not wanting to interrupt.
Once outside, she checked her phone and saw a message from Lilly. “Ella, I have news. Moss came back to the country today.”
