“I haven’t made up my mind yet.”
Wyatt pulled out an invitation with gold edges and handed it to her. “No more waiting, Ella. Let’s go tomorrow. The Capital is hosting the Emerald Banquet, and they’ve invited the top one hundred people from the Forbes list. It’s going to be full of the most powerful and wealthy people around. This is your invitation.”
Ella took the card and opened it. Inside, her alias, Isabella, was written in elegant script.
“The whole world is already buzzing about Isabella, the mysterious owner behind Herbs Life, the biggest pharmaceutical group out there. Everyone knows you’ll be at the Emerald Banquet. Your appearance will make the whole event shine even brighter. This is the perfect chance to visit the Capital, Ella.”
Isabella was one of Ella’s aliases, the identity she kept hidden as the boss of Herbs Life.
Ella didn’t say no, but her eyes drifted over to Lola. The little girl was sitting with her nanny, coloring quietly. “But if I go to the Capital, what about Lola? She’s never spent a night away from me. She’s so clingy.”
She couldn’t help but worry about her daughter.
Wyatt raised an eyebrow. “You’re not bringing Lola with you?”
Ella shook her head. “No.”
“Why not? Are you worried she might run into her dad, David?”
Ella stared off into the distance. “David and I are over. He’s getting ready to marry the richest heiress in the city. I don’t want Lola to meet him. I know it isn’t fair to her. She has the right to know who her father is. But I guess I’m being selfish. I don’t want Lola caught between the Harmon family and the Wade family. I just want her to be healthy and happy, always.”
Wyatt nodded. He respected her choices. After everything Ella had gone through to bring Lola into the world, she deserved to make her own decisions.
“Then don’t worry about a thing, Ella. Go to the Capital. I’ll take care of Lola.”
“You’ll watch her?” Ella gave him a skeptical look.
“What, you don’t trust me?”
Wyatt called out, “Lola, come here.”
