The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 562

Ella stood in front of Mrs. Harmon, her posture calm and unflinching. She nodded. “I’m Ella.”

Mrs. Harmon pulled out a check and held it out. “This is for you. Write any amount you want, just leave my son.”

Ella shook her head. “I don’t want it.”

She let out a cold laugh. “I’m sure you’ve heard about the engagement between the Harmon family and the Wade family. My son is supposed to marry Jessa. Only Jessa is good enough for him. There’s a lot at stake in families like ours, and David has to walk this path. It’s the right thing for him.”

“I’ve also heard you’re seeing someone else, and you’re even pregnant with his child. With that being the case, are you still planning to keep both men on the hook? As long as I’m alive, you will never step inside the Harmon family home, so you should give up now.”

“Ella, if you have any sense, you’ll take this check and walk away for good.”

Ella watched Mrs. Harmon. On her way here, she had expected Mrs. Harmon to be harsh and cruel, but she was more blunt than anything else. Strangely, Ella couldn’t bring herself to hate her. Maybe it was because she’d heard stories about Mrs. Harmon’s own struggles. Why should women make life harder for each other?

Ella met Mrs. Harmon’s eyes and gave a small, gentle smile. “Mrs. Harmon, you’ve got it wrong. I’m not taking the check because David and I are already done.”

“Done?” Mrs. Harmon’s expression froze.

She had dealt with her share of gitld trying to come between her and her family, especially the one woman she’d never forgotten, her husband’s old flame who always knew how to play the victim. Mrs. Harmon hated girls like that. But Ella wasn’t at all what she expected.

Mrs. Harmon pressed on. “Then what do you want? I want you out of my son’s life for good.”
