“Mrs. Harmon, please don’t blame David. It’s all Ella’s fault. She’s just too good at getting men’s attention. Now David doesn’t even want to marry me because of her.”
Mrs. Harmon looked over at Moss. “Mr. Wade, I’m sorry you had to witness this.”
Moss raised his eyebrows. “Our families have an agreement, but if David isn’t willing to marry Jessa, we won’t force him. Still, Jessa cares about David. She’s given her whole heart to him. As her father, I only want my daughter to be truly happy.”
He glanced at Jessa with a look only a loving dad could give, like he’d do anything for her.
Mrs. Harmon nodded. “I understand, Mr. Wade. Don’t worry, the agreement between our families still stands. I’ll go talk to Ella myself.”
…
Back at her apartment in the Stellaris complex, Ella was packing up her things, getting ready to head back to Country F. She was busy wrapping up the last of her work when the doorbell rang.
Who could that be?
She walked to the door and opened it. Standing outside were several men in black suits and Mrs. Harmon’s personal maid, Marian.
Marian gave her a polite look. “Are you Ms. Irvine?”
Ella nodded. “Yes, that’s me. Who are you?”
Marian smiled slightly. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Irvine. Mrs. Harmon has just arrived in Rockford Bay and would like to see you.”
Ella glanced at the bodyguards behind Marian. “I’m guessing Mrs. Harmon isn’t really giving me a choice, is she?”
Marian’s smile widened a little. “You’re smart. I also heard you’re pregnant, so it’s probably best you come on your own.”
Ella wasn’t surprised. She had a feeling Mrs. Harmon would show up sooner or later. She nodded. “Alright, I’ll go meet her.”
Just then, Lilly showed up. “Ella, where are you going? Who are all these people?”
Ella turned to reassure her. “It’s fine, Lilly. Mrs. Harmon just wants to talk. I’ll be back soon.”
