"Scared?"
Brittany stared at him, her voice laced with sarcasm, "Mr. Salter, do I need to remind you who is responsible for all this mess?"
Isaac tightly grasped her hand, frantically kissing the back of it, "I messed up. I messed up. If you don't like Radiant Residences, we could stay here, okay?"
Brittany pulled her hand away, "No need. I want to live by myself for a while. Mr. Salter, please leave."
She needed time to think, so she could consider whether this marriage was still worth fighting for.
Isaac's lips twitched, as if he wanted to say something but never managed to.
After a while, he stood up, "I'll have Hannah come and stay with you."
He couldn't just leave Brittany alone at home.
Once Isaac left, Brittany stretched out leisurely and yawned.
An hour later, Hannah arrived.
Brittany was indulging herself in a bowl of strawberries.
After seeing Hannah, Brittany's eyes lit up, "Come! Have some strawberries!"
Without waiting for Hannah's response, Brittany popped a strawberry into her mouth.
Hannah found it sweet and laughed, "These are really good."
"I heard from Mr. Salter that you're moving back here? You don't like Radiant Residences?"
Brittany, with her fingertips stained with the sweet scent of strawberries, bit into another strawberry, "I feel free here."
"Alright. I'll move in with you then."
Brittany knew she was worried about her, "We always talked about living together after college. Now our dream is finally coming true!"
"Bri, why don't you divorce Mr. Salter and marry me instead?" Hannah playfully touched her belly, "I don't mind being a stepmom to your child. I promise to treat them well!"
Brittany couldn't help but laugh. Her gloomy mood instantly lifted.
...
It was late at night when Isaac returned to Radiant Residences.
Brittany had always had a strong sense of personal space, so Joie touching her things was crossing the line!
"Why did you go into our room?"
Joie was stunned. She bit her lip as her eyes turned red, "Isaac, I didn't mean to. I just wanted to..."
"I don't care about your intentions." Isaac said sternly, "Though you had a tough childhood, you should know better than to invade someone's personal space, let alone touch their belongings."
Isaac was already upset and Joie's apology seemed to add fuel to the fire, making him even angrier.
"Bro Isaac..." Joie's eyes welled up with tears.
Grace couldn't stand it anymore, "Zac, stop blaming her. Joie is still a child, and she didn't do it on purpose."
A little scolding was enough; why was he so angry?
Isaac looked at Grace, who was defending Joie, and his face darkened even more, "Grandma, I respect you. This is the first and last time. If she does something like this again, I'll have her move out immediately!"
Isaac turned and went upstairs after leaving these harsh words behind.
Joie never expected that Isaac would not only not blame Brittany for being overly sensitive but would also scold her harshly. Thinking about this made her eyes redden even more.
