The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 438

When Nathan saw that she mistook him for a car rental attendant, he didn't correct her and just drove off.

Once they arrived at the restaurant, the chat between Kari and her business partner went pretty well.

Now that the signing went smoothly, Kari was in a good mood. On top of their agreed fee, she gave Nathan an extra twenty bucks. "You've worked hard."

Holding the freshly signed contract with her business partner, she prepared to leave.

"Hold on."

Nathan stopped her and said, "Thanks for looking out for my business. How about dinner together tonight?"

Kari, not one to pass up a freebie, agreed wholeheartedly, and they parted ways.

Brittany was completely oblivious to their behind-the-scenes interaction. After work, instead of returning to Radiant Residences, she hailed a cab to the apartment she and Isaac once lived in.

She pushed open the door to find the room empty.

But Brittany felt a sense of peace she had never felt before.

She switched into slippers, took off her coat, turned off her phone, turned on the heating, and headed into the kitchen. There was some frozen pizza left in the fridge, which was still good to eat.

She heated a slice for herself and turned on the TV so she could watch while eating.

After filling her stomach, she grabbed a thick blanket from the bedroom and curled up on the couch. She closed her eyes halfway, enjoying some rare downtime.

...

Emily was the first to notice Brittany hadn't come home after work, so she immediately contacted Isaac.

"Mr. Salter, Mrs. Salter didn't come home tonight. Is she with you?"

Isaac had just finished a gathering. After hearing this, he immediately got worried. "What about her phone?"

"It's switched off."

"Got it."

Emily hung up. She suspected Brittany was angry about something that happened in the morning.

She was going to keep it from Grace, but Joie was right there.

How did this guy find her so quickly?

Isaac loosened his hold a little. His warm breath lingered around her neck, stirring her desires slightly as he spoke in his raspy voice. "Why did you turn off your phone?"

Brittany couldn't avoid him, so she gave up struggling. "I didn't want to go home. I wanted to be alone."

Isaac probably knew she didn't like staying at Radiant Residences. He held her hand, his breath slightly ragged. "You dislike Radiant Residences that much? It's your home too."

Brittany said firmly. "Isaac, my home is not there."

After a pause, she broke free from his embrace. "If you want to make up with me, shouldn't you respect my feelings? I don't like Radiant Residences, and I don't like being followed and taken care of all the time. Can you understand?"

To put it lightly, Emily was taking care of her.

But the truth was, even if she spent more than ten minutes in the bathroom, Emily would come knocking.

She was constantly living under Isaac's watchful eye.

"I'm not keeping tabs on you. I'm just worried about you…" Isaac explained hastily, "Bri, I'm just scared. I fear that something like that might happen again. I'm really scared."
