The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 478

A reporter was quick to jump in. “No wonder you’re so fond of Adelina. She really knows how to go with the flow. She’s the perfect match for Lance.”

The interview was airing live.

Adelina walked off arm in arm with Lance. The camera only managed a fleeting shot as they moved too fast to catch his expression.

Adelina turned her head on purpose, her smile bright as she waved back at the camera.

“Tsk tsk tsk.”

Lorinda sat beside Catherine, watching the news on TV and shaking her head in disbelief.

“These reporters are something else. They keep buttering up Adelina, calling her so generous and gracious. Please. After all the mess she’s brought into your life?”

Catherine switched off the TV and got up to grab some fruit in the kitchen.

“Gavin left today, too. He’s sorting out the paperwork for my new job. And I can’t stay in this apartment anymore. After I leave the postpartum recovery center, I’ll move straight into that apartment he set up for me.”

Gavin had found her a quieter place, somewhere she could recover and take care of the baby in peace.

“Perfect. While you’re doing your postpartum thing, I’ll look for a place nearby and move in too,” Lorinda said, handing over her hand as if holding a pretend mic. “So, tell us, you’re just days away from your due date. How are you holding up?”

Catherine touched her belly. It felt round and tight, like a little watermelon.

“I’m excited, but also nervous in a way that’s hard to put into words.”

“Honestly, that’s totally normal, especially for your first time.” Lorinda gave her a quick hug. “You can do this. I’ll be there with you when you go into labor, okay?”

Catherine nodded. She honestly didn’t know how she would’ve gotten through this long and strange pregnancy without Lorinda at her side.

She wondered how she’d be able to welcome this little one she’d been waiting for.

“You’ve got another check-up on the twenty-fifth,” Lorinda reminded her. “But if you feel weird or uncomfortable before then, you need to tell me immediately. We’ll go straight to the hospital, no questions. You’re full term now, the baby could come any minute. You got it?”

Catherine nodded again. “I know.”

These days, she wasn’t allowed to be alone, not for a second.
