“My phone’s dead.” Harrell pulled out his phone, tapped the screen a couple of times, but it stayed black.
Before Adelina could say anything, he added, “Your WeChat hasn’t changed, right? I’ll add you when I get home and charge up.”
Adelina tucked her phone away, wanting to say more, but Harrell was already catching up to Lance.
They all headed out of the restaurant together. Lance was the first to get in the car, windows rolled down, one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting on the door.
“Lance, my hotel’s out of your way. Don’t worry about dropping me off, I’ll just grab a cab.”
“Yeah, just get a cab. I’m going the same way as Lance, so I’ll ride with him,” Harrell jumped in, cutting Adelina off. He slipped into the passenger seat and buckled up, all in one smooth move.
Adelina’s words got stuck in her throat. She barely finished her sentence, then heard what Harrell said, and nearly lost it.
“Text when you get to your hotel. Drive safe, okay?” Lance called out before pulling away.
Adelina stood there, watching their car speed off into the night.
“Ugh, Harrell, you’re definitely dodging me. Just wait, I’ll find out where you’re hiding!”

“Catherine, you’re really not eating enough. Look at your belly, it’s still so tiny,” Alexa said, trying to talk her into another bite at dinner. Catherine had only finished a small bowl of rice before putting down her chopsticks.
“Girls shouldn’t starve themselves just because they want to look pretty or don’t want to gain weight. The poor baby will be born all skinny,” Alexa sighed.
Lorinda joined in, “Honestly, she eats way more now than she used to. You should’ve seen her before. Feeding her was like feeding a cat. In two months, Jasper will probably eat more than she does.”
Jasper was starting to try solid foods now. Alexa was a great cook and her baby food was always a hit. Jasper’s appetite seemed to grow every day.
“Sweetie, you don’t like this today?” Alexa noticed Jasper wasn’t eating much.
She took off her apron, walked over, and took the baby bowl from Lorinda.
