Garnett’s lips trembled. “Let… let her go… I’m… begging you.”
“Let her go?” Henry’s voice was savage. He pressed down with his foot, and with a sickening crack, the sound of bone breaking echoed through the room. “You’re begging me to let her go? I let her go, and who’s going to let me go?”
“Ugh!”
Garnett felt a surge of blood in his chest, his vision turning black as he spat out another mouthful.
Henry looked at his miserable state, still not satisfied. “You were so eager to shout just now, weren’t you? I’ll give you a chance. Shout! Shout it out! Let Victoria hear just how pathetic her father sounds!”
“Shout!”
Garnett shook his head. No, he couldn’t shout. He couldn’t let Victoria walk into such a dangerous trap!
He could only scream inwardly, praying for Victoria to leave quickly…
Seeing this, Henry became furious. He stomped on Garnett’s face. “Shout! Shout, damn it! I told you to shout, are you fucking deaf?!”
The rough floor scraped against Garnett’s cheek. He couldn’t struggle, only bite down on his lower lip to keep from making a sound, his hands fumbling weakly at Henry’s pant leg.
Henry was surprised by Garnett’s resilience, his chest heaving with rage. “Fine, you won’t shout, right? That’s okay. I have plenty of ways to make you scream. Let’s see how long you can hold out!”
With that, a vicious glint flashed in Henry’s eyes. He planted one foot on Garnett’s outstretched right hand, the one clawing at the floor. He crouched down, and the knife rose and fell in one swift motion—
“No—!”
Victoria burst through the main doors just in time to see Henry’s blade slice off the pinky finger of Garnett’s right hand.
Her eyes turned bloodshot. She let out a shattered scream and rushed in.
