The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 389

But at the very least, during the time Elias was designing this nursery, he and Genevieve were inseparable, their relationship sickeningly sweet.

She lowered her eyes, knowing full well that her words were as much for herself as they were for Anne—a constant reminder not to harbor any illusions, not to deceive herself.

Otherwise, all that awaited her was a point of no return.

"Anne, don't let him know I was in this room," Victoria instructed softly.

Anne opened her mouth to say something but found herself speechless. In the end, she could only nod in agreement.

"Of course, Miss Sanger. Don't worry."

After leaving The Imperial Crest Estates, Victoria didn't go straight back to Willow Creek Estates. Instead, she took a cab to the custom shoe shop.

The pleasant chime of a bell sounded as she pushed open the vintage wooden door.

The old man, wearing a pair of reading glasses and a custom-made dark blue apron, came out from his workshop in the back. "Welcome—Mrs. Shawn, what brings you here today?"

"Mr. Laurent, I came to confirm something with you." Victoria got straight to the point, taking out her phone. She opened her photo album and swiped through the screen, scrolling back.

But before she could speak, the old man, as if he had already read her mind, said, "You're here to ask who else I sold that shoe design to, the one you had custom-made last time, aren't you?"

Victoria's fingers stopped scrolling. She looked up, meeting the old man's gaze, and nodded. "Yes. Mr. Laurent, you said before that you made five pairs of these shoes. One pair belongs to Elias, but what about the other four?"

"Actually, when you came in last time with that photo to have them made, I thought it was strange. I wanted to ask you about it, but your friend was with you, so I felt it would be awkward."

The old man took off his reading glasses and hung them on his chest, pausing for a moment before continuing, "It's true that shoe design was custom-made here."

"But excluding the pair you ordered later, all five pairs were sold to the same person."

With that, he turned and took an order confirmation form from under the counter, handing it to Victoria.

Victoria's gaze fell on the buyer's signature on the order form.

The name 'Hawk' was clearly legible!
