Perhaps running on pure adrenaline, Yorick immediately took a step forward and extended his hand with a practiced smile. "That would be me. Welcome, representatives of Stellar Trust. Thank you for making the trip out here so late..."
Before Yorick could finish, the female representative with the gold-rimmed glasses frowned slightly. Her sharp eyes lingered on his face for a moment before she clearly corrected him. "Mr. Winslet, I apologize, but I am looking for Lucian Shapiro. Mr. Shapiro."
Yorick's smile froze. His brain completely short-circuited. "W-what?" Not him!?
"I am looking for Lucian Shapiro," the representative repeated. "Regarding the signing of the Stellar Trust partnership documents, the board of directors has added a management contract and related clauses in their final decision. We need Mr. Shapiro's signature to confirm."
"Over here." Lucian stepped down from the balcony area and raised a hand.
Under the stunned gaze of everyone in the room, the representative and her team walked straight past Yorick and approached Lucian.
Then, in the dead silence, she bowed slightly and respectfully presented the black briefcase—the symbol of the multi-billion-dollar deal—to Lucian with both hands.
"Sir, thank you for waiting," she said, her tone carrying obvious reverence. "The general contracting agreement for Stellar Trust Group's Southeast Asia VLCC cruise project, along with our supplementary agreement granting the Shapiro Group full authority over project management and core module supply, has been prepared according to your exact specifications. Please review and sign."
Buzz—
It was as if someone had hit the mute button on the entire banquet hall, followed immediately by a collective, disbelief-filled gasp.
Everyone froze. The smiles melted off their faces, and their fawning words lodged in their throats. The very people who had just been mocking Lucian for 'losing steam' and 'holding back progress' were now pale as sheets, as if they'd just been slapped across the face.
Yorick's smug satisfaction shattered instantly. His pupils contracted violently as he stared at the briefcase being respectfully handed to Lucian, looking as though he were witnessing the most absurd scene on earth.
"No... impossible!" His voice cracked from extreme shock. He stormed over to the Stellar Trust representatives and yelled, "Didn't we already agree on this?! This contract was meant for the Winslet family! Did you make a mistake? How could it be Lucian? He doesn't even build ships!"
The female representative finally turned her head, adjusting her gold-rimmed glasses. Her eyes were calm, but her tone carried undeniable authority.
"Mr. Winslet, while we did have extensive project discussions with you, the board of directors ultimately decided to add a primary management party to oversee the subcontractors under this massive deal. The management party will directly receive all the funding from the contract and act on behalf of Stellar Trust to disburse payments and supervise the subcontractors."
