Storm and the others instantly fell silent. The built-in chips at the back of their necks sent a literal chill down their spines, and they immediately apologized. "Sorry, Boss. It's just that our order volumes have taken a hit lately because of Ares's subsidiary weapons factories. Our shipments are down, and they've slashed their prices to start a price war with us."
Loyce's eyes narrowed slightly. "Slashed their prices?"
"Yeah," Nightingale chimed in. "But I think his clearance pricing is directly targeting the Oceanic Federation and the Eastern Isles Kingdom. His goal is to boost the production capacity for his jets and manufacturing chains. It's basically a 'buy a plane, get a few machine guns free' kind of promotion. And I guarantee the guns he's bundling are low-tier trash with massive, fatal quality defects."
Storm added, "Besides moving jets, his real motive is probably to crush independent arms dealers like us who refuse to join his syndicate."
Nightingale scoffed. "Probably? It's a hard fact. Our munitions factory is on the same island as his subsidiary branch. Plus, we're sitting on a massive reserve of uranium ore, and they've been drooling over our rare minerals for ages."
Loyce considered this thoughtfully. "How long has this been going on?"
Nightingale replied, "Ever since that offshore oil field near the Emerald Strait was discovered, Ares started his fire sale on firearms. We didn't pay much attention at first, but recently we lost several clients, and they've started muscling in on our cartel business. They're also deliberately intercepting orders that buyers try to send our way."
After all, sitting on such a massive uranium mine without ever utilizing or selling it made every arms dealer extremely wary of their Boss.
Ares's ultimate goal, aside from war profiteering, was finding a way to seize their uranium. Uranium wasn't just the core component for nuclear weapons; it was the power source for nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. If Ares could control it, he could offer superpowers a 'one-stop shop' for strategic military might, making his position completely unassailable.
Currently, global high-purity uranium was monopolized by a handful of nations and organizations. Loyce's mine was one of the largest and highest-purity reserves known to be in private hands. Since Ares couldn't obtain it through national channels, she had become his biggest obstacle—and his greatest temptation.
The conference room was dead silent, save for the faint crackle of static on the encrypted channel and the soft tapping of Loyce's finger on her desk.
After a long pause, Loyce's cool voice broke the silence, carrying an undeniable, commanding weight.
"Listen closely. Immediately stop chasing the clients we've lost. If they choose cheap bundles, they can suffer the lethal consequences of poor quality. We are not beggars."
"Also, I'm reversing my decision on the uranium trade. If Ares wants to back the Oceanic Federation and the Eastern Isles, then we are officially backing Harmony Country."
