She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 437

Baldwin hurried forward. "Lucian, you're finally here. Everyone has been waiting for you."

Joanna stood frozen in place, staring blankly at the son who looked like a total stranger. He was her firstborn, but she had practically forgotten what he looked like.

"What are you standing there for? Joanna, this is your son," Baldwin prompted gently.

Only then did Joanna step forward. Meeting Lucian's aloof, apathetic eyes, a wave of discomfort and deep-seated guilt washed over her. She was almost terrified to acknowledge him; the sheer predatory aggression radiating from him was overwhelming.

"L-Lucian."

Lucian merely gave a flat "Mm" in response.

Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed from the second floor.

Zeke Shapiro, who hadn't shown his face all night, finally descended the stairs with the butler's support.

His arrival instantly elevated the formality of this family banquet.

Zeke scanned the room. His gaze paused on Lucian for a moment, softening with a barely noticeable trace of comfort, before turning to his eldest son's family. His voice was steady. "Now that everyone is here, let's take our seats and begin dinner."

The guests seamlessly moved into the lavish, meticulously prepared dining hall.

At the long table, the head seat naturally belonged to Zeke. Lucian sat immediately to his right, a glaring testament to his untouchable status in the family. Baldwin and his family were seated in descending order on the left.

Loyce's seat was also near the front, though Gordon and Morris were buffered between her. Her family had silently, yet unanimously, agreed to act as a barrier between her and Lucian...

In the brief window before the staff began serving the meal, Joanna suddenly raised a hand, stopping a waiter from placing a dish in front of Channing. "He's allergic to soy; don't serve him this. And nothing too sweet either. He's cutting back on sugar lately, so just skip the dessert for him."
