Seeing Evelyn hesitate, Jane decided to throw more fuel on the fire.
"Miss Sinclair, Elena is a master manipulator, especially when it comes to men. I'm her cousin, so I know exactly how she operates. Max isn't the only man she's strung along. To be completely honest with you, she's also deeply involved with Sean Maddox from Aurelis Holdings. I'd bet my life she's already sleeping with him."
Evelyn's eyes widened in genuine shock.
"What did you say? She's involved with Sean?"
Everyone in Cresden City knew who Sean Maddox was.
Evelyn's own father, Xavier, had spoken highly of him on multiple occasions, even hoping to recruit Sean as a son-in-law. But Sean was notoriously cold and had absolutely zero interest in women.
Xavier had eventually dropped the idea because Sean was simply unapproachable.
"No, you have to be lying," Evelyn argued. "How could a nobody like Elena pull off something like that?"
"It's the truth!" Jane insisted, lowering her head to look appropriately pitiful. "Just yesterday, I was fired from my job at Aurelis. Sean personally kicked me out, and the only reason was because Elena didn't like me. Sean admitted to my face that he only hired me as a favor to her. Now I don't even have a career."
Evelyn, who was already arrogant and intensely jealous of women who stole the spotlight, felt a sudden surge of fury.
"I never realized she was such a scheming little rat!" Evelyn seethed. "No wonder she managed to track down those limited-edition LUMEN Studio shoes so easily. She has all these powerful men backing her behind the scenes! What an absolute tramp, sleeping around with whoever can benefit her!"
Evelyn took a deep breath and glared at Jane. "Fine. I've heard enough, and I know how to handle this. You don't have to pay the millions. We're officially even. I'll make sure my people don't go to your house to collect."
"Thank you, Miss Sinclair," Jane breathed, a massive weight lifting off her chest.
Thank God she was smart enough to figure this out.
If she hadn't found a way to clear that debt, she really would have been forced to take her own life!
However, she still couldn't wrap her head around one thing: Evelyn clearly knew Max Holt was a divorced man, so why was she dating him?
With the Sinclair family's immense wealth, Evelyn could have any man she wanted.
