York hurried away, leaving the car and driver for Claudia.
She dismissed the driver and hailed a cab, following York all the way to the hospital.
She had to see her. The woman who had haunted York's thoughts for so many years.
Claudia followed him to the elevators, watching as he got into a car. By the time she got out of a different elevator on the same floor, he was nowhere in sight.
She couldn't help but laugh at herself. The once proud and confident Claudia Watkins was now acting like a jealous wife, tailing her cheating husband.
She felt utterly miserable. If she weren't so afraid for her mother's health, she would have screamed at him, fought with him, and then set him free.
This constant tearing pain was driving her mad.
After taking a moment to calm herself, Claudia dried her eyes, fixed her makeup, and made her way to her mother's room.
Seeing her daughter there so late at night, Jessica grew worried. "Claudia, be honest with me. Did you and York have a fight?"
Claudia pulled a chair to her mother's bedside and forced a smile. "No, Mom. We didn't fight."
She had once proudly told her parents that marrying York was the greatest happiness she could ever imagine. How could she tell them now? Tell them that their perfect son-in-law was a cheater? Tell them she wanted a divorce?
Felix offered her some snacks that a relative had brought. "Claudia, for the past three years, York has supported our family with his time and money. If there's a problem, you need to talk to him properly. Don't throw those princess tantrums anymore."
Jessica looked at her daughter with pity in her eyes. "You're twenty-five now. It's time to stop playing around. York is the sole heir to the Ferguson family. You need to have a child with him soon. That's how you'll make your marriage last."
Claudia remained silent. It wasn't that she didn't want a child; it was York who refused.
