No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 41

Ann had her live-in housekeeper call York several times, but he refused to come over.

Just as she was about to send him a text, the doorbell rang.

A slow smile spread across Ann's face. She told the housekeeper to go to her room and not to come out no matter what.

After a quick check in the mirror, she opened the door.

Seeing Darleen and Peter on her doorstep was an obvious shock.

Ann saw the fury in Darleen's eyes, and her own smile vanished.

After a moment's hesitation, she politely invited them into the living room. "Miss Ferguson, what brings you here so late?"

Darleen bent down, picked up a pair of men's slippers from the entryway, and glanced at the size.

It was her brother's.

The anger she'd been trying to suppress roared back to life.

She threw the slippers to the floor with a clatter. "So this is the golden cage my brother built for you?" she sneered.

"Miss Ferguson, you've misunderstood," Ann said quickly. "Your brother and I are in the past."

Darleen slowly advanced on Ann, her heels clicking on the floor. Suddenly, she reached out and ripped an earring from Ann's ear.

Ann cried out in pain, clutching her ear and stumbling back.

Darleen held up the earring. "These new designer diamond earrings, worth a small fortune. Did you buy them with your own money, Miss James? Or did my brother's money pay for them?"

Ann told the truth. "York gave them to me."

"And that's what you call 'in the past'?" Darleen snarled, grabbing a fistful of Ann's hair and yanking her forward.
