My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 659

Chapter 659

Liu lifted his head, studying him. “Do you suspect they met?”

“It could be a coincidence,” Cale answered shortly, though the uncertainty in his voice lingered beneath

the surface.

He didn’t like making assumptions.

But he didn’t ignore possibilities either.

“Check it,” he ordered.

Liu nodded without hesitation. “I can get the CCTV footage. It’ll just take a little time.”

“Now,” Cale cut in, his tone firm. “I don’t like delays.”

Without wasting another second, Liu began making calls, reaching out to several contacts who could assist him. Fortunately, his past connections from his time working in Berlin’s city government-before joining TnC Group as Cale Miller’s assistant for the Asia branch-were still useful.

It didn’t take long.

The screen soon displayed footage from inside the museum. The camera angles shifted from one corridor to another-until it stopped.

A hallway leading to the restrooms.

And there-

Lydia.

“It seems… the coincidence at the museum was real, sir,” Liu said carefully, handing the tablet over.

Cale leaned forward slightly, his gaze hardening without him realizing it.

On the screen, Lydia stood not far from a young woman in a plain uniform-Naomi. Her hair was slightly disheveled, a cleaning tool still in her hand. They weren’t standing too close, but close enough to make one thing unmistakably clear-

They were talking.

Lydia lowered her head slightly, as if trying to hear more clearly. Naomi looked awkward, unsure-but she didn’t step away.

And then Cale saw it.

The way Lydia reached out to her.

Something in him snapped tight.

His hand curled into a fist before he even realized it. “Who does she think she is, touching her like that?”

“I’ll look into it immediately, Mr. Miller,” Liu responded at once, straightening. “What would you like me to

do?”

“Just keep watching,” Cale said, his voice cool but edged with something sharper beneath. “If she keeps treating Naomi however she pleases… teach her a lesson.”

Liu nodded obediently.

Cale kept his eyes on the screen. Even without sound, everything was clear-the tension, the hesitation… and Lydia, helping Naomi.

Silence settled heavily in the room.

Slowly, Cale leaned back in his chair. “So…” he murmured under his breath, “they really did meet.”

Liu didn’t know how to respond. He chose silence, waiting for the next instruction.

But Cale’s attention, though still fixed on the screen, had already drifted elsewhere.

Yesterday, Lydia didn’t say a single word about Naomi.

And yet, the night before, she had pressed and persuaded him, even-on talking about her.

And stranger still… why had Lydia brought up the Chen family?

“What are you really thinking, Lydia?” Cale muttered softly, almost to himself.

Liu glanced at him briefly, then looked away again. That question clearly wasn’t meant for him.

Cale’s gaze shifted, unfocused for a moment before he let out a quiet breath. “Lydia isn’t someone who hides things,” he said, his eyes returning to Liu. “But this time… she is.”

“What would you like me to do?”

Truthfully, Cale didn’t like this. Not at all.

Everything Lydia was doing now… was outside his control.

She had always been open with always asking, always telling him everything about her life. So why not

this time?

“Keep watching Naomi,” he finally ordered. His voice had gone cold again-controlled, precise. “I want to know her every move.”

“Yes, sir.”

“And-” Cale paused, then added in a lower tone, “don’t let anyone lay a hand on her. Not without my permission.”

Liu gave a firm nod. “Understood.”

Cale rose to his feet, retrieving his coat with calm, measured movements. But beneath that calm,
