Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68 Two Little Rebels on a Mission

That daycare cost a base fee of one hundred thousand dollars a month.

Benjamin paid it without blinking.

When Amelia asked the price, Benjamin paused for a beat and said, “Ten thousand dollars a month.”

Amelia nearly choked. “That’s insane! The community daycare in our old neighborhood cost three thousand dollars a month, and that included meals! Does this one at least feed them?”

Benjamin went silent.

Finished

He knew Amelia was broke, but every single time, she managed to make him speechless with just how broke.

Meals weren’t actually included at that daycare.

But Benjamin looked at her, counted to three in his head, and calmly replied, “Meals included.”

Amelia sighed, “Still crazy expensive…”

Amelia had lived in poverty her entire life. She had no concept of what rich people’s daycares looked like.

Naturally, she had no idea this was nothing like the small community daycare she used to know.

Nina only needed one day. She fell in love with the place instantly.

On the second morning, when they arrived at the gate, an extra little troublemaker was already waiting- Lucien!

He suggested excitedly, “Nina, Nina! Class is so boring! Come with me, we’re gonna cause trouble—no, no, we’re gonna get revenge!

“You know that Mia who made you cry last time? She’s going to your dad’s office today!”

Lucien wasn’t driving his mini-Benz today. He was riding a kids’ kick scooter, hands on the handlebars like a total pro.

He’d found out last night that Nina was enrolled here.

First thing this morning, he showed up.

He was too old for the daycare, so he planted himself at the entrance and ambushed her.

Nina loved the daycare, sure, but the second she heard the words about “causing trouble” and that someone was here to see her dad, her eyes lit up like fireworks.

She didn’t hesitate for even one second. She spun around and tried to march off.

“I go!”

Today, Amelia was dropping her off in a mask and huge sunglasses.

Seeing the escape attempt, she quickly lowered her voice. “Nina, no! You have to go to school! Didn’t you say you wanted to ride the pony today?”

But too late.

The daycare had ponies and teachers and crafts, but nothing beat real-world chaos.

Lucien’s offer hit Nina’s adventure button perfectly.

“Mommy, no school! Play!”

Once this stubborn little gremlin made up her mind, dragging her back was impossible.

Amelia mentally calculated the daily rate-over three hundred dollars-wasted. Her heart bled.

“Nina, your friends and teachers are waiting to play with you. Don’t you want to see them?” she pleaded in a final attempt.

Nina looked up with those big eyes and answered crisp and clear, “No!”

Amelia was speechless. Completely defeated.

Lucien, hearing their conversation, finally recognized Amelia.

He whined, “Please, just let Nina come with me! We’re going to find your husband!”

The word “husband” nearly made Amelia choke.on air.

“N-No! I don’t have a husband!” she stammered.

Her face under the mask turned tomato red.

She’d never even dated, let alone married! Nina was her one and only beautiful accident.

Before Amelia could finish explaining, Lucien gave her a knowing wink.

He added, “Don’t be shy! Relax, Nina and I will protect your husband for you!”

He sounded so righteous.

Nina didn’t understand half of it, but she sure could repeat.

She puffed out her cheeks and yelled, “Hah-buh! Nina! Prote!”

A jumble of nonsense.
