Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 67

Chapter 67 The Fancy Daycare

He murmured, “Weird. Who’s thinking about me so hard? Could Alice be cursing me right now?”

Daniel now knew her real name.

Finished

Thank goodness she’d been taken to the police station yesterday and left a record; otherwise, he’d still be chasing a ghost.

He’d made up his mind: he would keep looking until Alice showed up again.

To make sure she saw the most handsome, perfect version of himself, Daniel spent extra time in front of the mirror fixing his hair and niood before heading out.

Once done, he stepped out of his room, and as he passed Amelia’s door, he knocked casually.

He asked, “Amelia? You and Nina home?”

“Amelia?” he called twice, but got no answer.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard faint voices inside.

Daniel frowned and asked again, “Amelia, you in there or not?”

He definitely heard something, but no reply.

He grew a little worried-what if something had happened to her?

“Amelia, I’m coming in! Just checking on you!” he announced loudly and pushed the door.

The next second, the door swung open from the inside.

Instead of Amelia, his dear brother, Benjamin, stood there, looking like pure murder.

Daniel said, “Damn! Benjamin? Weren’t you at the office? Why are you here?!”

Benjamin didn’t answer.

He simply grabbed Daniel by the collar and dragged him straight up to the third-floor indoor gym.

Normally, Benjamin only used this place to work out alone.

But in special circumstances, Daniel became the training dummy.

Daniel shouted, “Wait! I’ve got stuff to do! I’m leaving! Work it out by yourself!”

He was terrified of this room and didn’t want to stay a single second.

Benjamin asked coldly, “Last night you were with Nina. You gave her the snacks? And the cold soda?”

He pulled the hallway surveillance footage and saw Nina sticking her tiny head out in the middle of the night, sneaking around.

Chapter 67 The Fancy Daycare

She tried calling someone, then changed her mind and scurried into Daniel’s room instead.

Finished

Then he watched drunken Daniel rummaging for food, opening the fridge, doing everything the little schemer told him to do.

Daniel’s memory of last night was foggy.

He still tried to defend himself, saying, “I don’t remember, man! I was wasted! And giving a kid some snacks isn’t a capital crime…”

Benjamin shut him up, saying sharply, “She has gastroenteritis. Throwing up, fever, and she just fell asleep after her medicine.”

Daniel’s face changed. “I really didn’t know! I’m going to check on her!”

He tried to bolt, but Benjamin wasn’t done.

By the time they left the gym, Daniel’s legs were shaking, and a fresh bruise bloomed on his cheek.

Daniel asked, sounding a little confused, “You beat me this badly just because of Nina?”

Something didn’t add up.

Daniel knew Benjamin cared about Nina.

But today… felt like it carried more than just brotherly irritation. It felt like Benjamin had mixed in something else—something Daniel couldn’t quite pinpoint.

Benjamin didn’t dignify the question with a single syllable.
