Chapter 419 Which Bad Uncle?
The story had only just started, but Nina was already out tiny fists clenched and breathing softly in her sleep.
She looked so peaceful, her long lashes fluttering with each breath. Catherine watched her for a long time before finally drifting off herself.
The next morning, Nina woke up extra early. The little girl got right up and went looking for Amelia.
This time, the door to Amelia and Benjamin’s room wasn’t shut.
Nina gave it a push with her chubby hands.
The door opened, and there was Benjamin.
Nina hadn’t seen him all night. Her little mouth turned down in a pout.
“Daddy!” she cried, and Benjamin immediately scooped her up.
She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Nina Grandma sleep.”
Benjamin held her with one arm and wrapped his other hand around her slightly cool, pudgy little foot.
“Wasn’t that your idea last night?” he asked.
That made Nina pause and think for a second. “Want Mommy,” she finally said. “Mommy sleep.”
As he spoke, Benjamin set her down on the bed.
“No more bare feet,” he told the little girl who hated socks and shoes.
She ignored him, scrambling over to cuddle with her mom instead.
Amelia was still asleep. Feeling the kisses and snuggles, she half-opened her eyes, still groggy.
“Hey, sweetie, you’re back.”
Amelia gave her a few sleepy kisses and was out again.
Nina kept planting kisses on her mom until Benjamin gently pulled her back by a chubby leg to get her changed.
“Mommy needs to sleep. Don’t bug her,” Benjamin said, holding up her clothes. “Let’s get you dressed so we
can eat.”
Nina didn’t wear diapers during the day anymore, but she still needed one at night just in case.
Benjamin took off the diaper and was pulling up her little shorts when Nina suddenly seemed to remember something. She covered them with both hands.
“No touch! No look!”
She sang the lyrics, completely off-key. It was the safety song from those nursery rhymes Amelia loved playing, the kind that taught kids safety. Benjamin had heard it so many times with her.

Nina had never paid attention to it before. But her singing it now set off every alarm in Benjamin’s head. His gut screamed that something was wrong.
“Nina,” he asked, his heart going cold even though he kept his face and voice calm. “Did someone touch your pants?”
He tried to sound casual, but a thread of urgency slipped through.
The question was a little leading for a kid.
Nina blinked her big eyes and, without really hesitating nodded.
“Bad uncle,” she stated clearly.
She was thinking about what Blue had said about being ouched. So when Benjamin asked, that was what she said.
Hearing those words, Benjamin’s composure cracked for a second. Something dark and terrifying flashed in his eyes, his handsome face hardening with a scary intensity.
“Which bad uncle?” Benjamin demanded, his voice tight All pretense of calm was gone.
He stopped trying to dress her.
“Sweetheart, tell me. Which bad uncle touched your parts?” he asked, lifting her to stand in front of him. “When did he do it?”
Nina squirmed, trying to move, but Benjamin put his hands firmly but gently on her little shoulders.
“Answer Daddy’s questions. If you do a good job, Daddy will take you out to play,” he coaxed, using her favorite bribe.
It worked. Nina immediately perked up at the promise.
“Blue’s uncle!” she declared. “No like! No bad uncle!”
She clearly didn’t like Jeff, who was with Blue yesterday After her big reveal, she launched herself back into Benjamin’s arms.
“Daddy hold! Play?”
Nina was ready for fun. Benjamin, however, was in no mood to play. A killing rage simmered just under his skin.
