He was almost close enough to grab it when the king cobra suddenly reared up and hissed at

him.

The cobra had a bad temper-it wanted to bite again.

Just as the captain steadied his breathing, Nina suddenly bent down, reached out her chubby little hand, and smacked the cobra right on the head.

“No bite! No bite.” Nina kept a serious little face, not letting the cobra bite anyone.

From the moment it showed up, the cobra had already gotten several little slaps.

It couldn’t take it anymore and simply slithered down from Nina’s neck, crawling straight into the bag.

Nina saw it slip into the bag and followed, wanting to grab it back out.

“Whitey. No run! Play together!”

Nina chased the cobra to catch it. Harassed by her, the cobra coiled itself into a tight ball inside the bag.

The captain let out a long sigh of relief when he saw the cobra slither into the bag.

He relaxed, but the firefighter holding the bag was shaking like a leaf!

“Little girl, don’t chase! That’s a venomous snake-it’s really dangerous!” the captain shouted.

The captain rushed forward a couple of steps and scooped Nina up.

Once in the captain’s arms, Nina looked at him, then at Whitey, who had fled into the bag. She sniffled and said, “Mine.”

She wanted to say the snake was Nina’s, not theirs.

Seeing she still wanted the snake, the captain quickly cut in, “Didn’t you want to ride the truck? How about we ride it now?”

Nina nodded. “Oaky.”

The captain saw her agree and added, “We’ll go ride it right now.”

As he spoke, he casually untied the rope around Nina’s wrists.

The captain carried Nina onto the fire truck and started asking about her situation. “Kid, where are your mommy and daddy? How come you’re out here all alone?”

Only when asked did Nina remember she was out to get help.

“Bad guys! Jimmy… Save Jimmy! Tied… Nina no open.”

Nina’s words came out in a rush, but the captain didn’t catch much.

While the captain struggled to understand her, the SWAT team on the other side smoothly located the room where Jimmy was trapped.

They rescued Jimmy and sent Regina-who was lying on the floor, fate unknown-to the hospital.

Amelia burst in, scanning the room for her daughter the second she stepped inside. But she didn’t see her.

She asked, all worried, “Nina? My Nina?! Where is she? Why isn’t she here?”

Jimmy’s heart was already causing him trouble-his face was frighteningly pale.

His voice was weak, too. “Nina went out… She… she went to get help.

“She took a snake… a cobra…

“There was a snake in the room. Nina saw it.

“That snake bit Regina. It tried to bite me, too, but Nina grabbed it.

“Nina left with the snake.”

Jimmy could barely breathe by the time he finished.

Jack scooped him up in a hug, not letting him say more, and rushed outside with him.

“Jimmy, hang on. I’m taking you to the hospital. We’ll be there soon,” Jack hurried to say and left with Jimmy.

The SWAT officers and the Graham family all scattered to search for the missing Nina.

They were still looking when Nina, sitting on the fire truck, hugged the milk a firefighter had given her. She sipped it while explaining her situation.

She kept repeating words like “bad guys” and “grab Nina”.

The firefighters were already notifying the police.

Once the two sides matched the info, Nina was found just like that.

The Graham family got the news and ran over. Amelia spotted Nina sitting in the truck, tears streaming as she climbed aboard and pulled Nina into a tight hug.
