Love Beyond the Mask novel Chapter 15

Monica pretended to be fighting back tears, her voice laced with a panicked sob. "Sis, I'm so sorry about yesterday. I took credit for your work.

I don’t want to compete with you anymore; I know you're strong.

We're family, let's just go make peace with Daniel, okay? I heard he's coming here for a meeting soon.

If you can just convince him to pass that big contract my way, I'll sweet-talk Simon, and I promise to let you return to Skye Gem Ltd. as Deputy Manager. How’s that for a deal?"

Monica was dangling the bait with all her might.

Whitney's eyes narrowed, a faint smirk of contempt appearing as she reflected on the lengths Monica had gone to oust her from the company the previous day.

And now, for the sake of one big contract, Monica was begging her to return?

Monica might be afraid to compete, but Whitney was not about to admit defeat this easily.

Suspicious, Whitney chose to ignore her sister’s pleas.

Monica, desperate as Whitney remained indifferent, grabbed her arm pleadingly. "Sis, please, can't you just help me out?"

At that moment, Monica heard the familiar sound of leather shoes approaching.

Good, Roselyn should be in position.

Monica's eyes darkened, and she suddenly yanked Whitney forward!

Whitney frowned, instinctively pulling away.

But unexpectedly, Monica stumbled backward, crashing into a table and falling hard onto the floor!

Her pale face turned towards the corner as she screamed in agony, "Ah! My baby, why did you push me, Sis?"

Whitney was stunned; she had not pushed her!

But seeing the pool of blood spreading beneath Monica, Whitney immediately knelt to check on her.

Monica clung to her hand, refusing to let go, and cried over her shoulder, "Simon, save me!"

"Good heavens! Monica!" Roselyn, who had arrived with Simon, shouted in alarm.

Simon's face twisted with shock as he rushed over.

The entire lobby turned to watch the commotion.

"What the hell, Whitney!" Simon barked, shoving Whitney aside and scooping Monica into his arms, his gaze icy and fierce.

Monica wept bitterly in Simon's arms, "Simon, I just wanted to ask my sister to plead with the HN CEO on my behalf, maybe because I couldn't help sharing the news of our baby, and she... she got murderous! Oh, it hurts so much. Is the baby gone?"

"Don't cry," Simon said, his voice breaking as he touched her face, looking down at the blood on the floor, his handsome face turning ghostly pale.

The onlookers grew angry, glaring at Whitney. "How could she be so cruel, to harm even her sister’s child!"

"A murderer!"

Amid the chorus of accusations, Simon, his face twisted with rage, lunged at Whitney, his hands clamping around her throat, "You wretch, so malicious, daring to harm my child, I’ll make you pay with your life!"

Whitney shook him off, her face calm but her heart bleeding from his harsh words.

For his child, he despised her enough to wish her dead. It seemed his love for Monica was undeniable.

She glanced at Monica's towering stilettos and let out a low laugh.

"What's so funny?" Simon's eyes were like icy daggers, "Roselyn, call the cops. She's caused Monica to miscarry. She needs to be behind bars!"

Whitney, however, was indifferent. Recalling what had just happened, she moved her hand up her chest and asked Monica with a sarcastic tone, “Are you sure I pushed you?”

“Why would I fall if you didn’t push me? Sis, you’re so heartless. I have forgiven you for everything you’ve done to me, yet you want my child dead too!” Monica wept.

Simon’s eyes were bloodshot as he hugged Monica, his heart aching. “No point talking nonsense with her. Someone, capture her!”

Simon stared at the photo, stepping back as if struck!

Was that Monica entwined with some guy in a hotel room?

He turned, his handsome face clouding over with a dark expression as he stared at Monica.

Monica was already shaking with fear, her guilty eyes refusing to meet his. "Simon... it's not what it looks like," she stammered.

"How could you explain this!" Simon's face turned ashen with anger, especially as the whispers and stares of the other guests made him feel like he was losing face.

"Oh, man, it turns out she's a real piece of work. We felt sorry for her just a minute ago. Talk about being played!"

"That guy’s a total sucker, believing in a fake pregnancy. Look at him now. His girlfriend's all over some other dude."

"And to think she tried to pin the fake pregnancy on her own sister, that's just wicked!"

Whitney clenched her fists and let out a scoff as she turned to leave.

Simon's brooding gaze followed her retreating figure, his eyes flickering with an unreadable emotion. Suddenly, he stood up and strode after her, anger still etched on his face.

At the hotel entrance, Whitney felt Simon's grip tighten on her wrist.

She turned, her face a mask of frost. "What do you want now?"

"Whitney, are you still mad at me?"

Simon's tone softened slightly as he looked into her eyes, a glint of realization passing through them. "All this drama you’re stirring up lately, constantly going after Monica... You’re just trying to get back with me, aren't you?"

He took a moment to appraise Whitney, unable to deny her beauty. If it were not for the fact that she used to call the shots, he might not have treated her the way he did.

Monica’s pregnancy was a sham, and Whitney indeed had the chops to land big deals. Maybe...

His gaze deepened, and he tried to pull Whitney closer, his breath hot and heavy. "If you're still hung up on me, I'll give you a chance. I won't hold your past against you, even with that mistake of yours. Just do as I say from now on and help me land some deals."
